At Eaton India Innovation Center, Electrical Engineering Services and Systems Division (EESSD) , currently has an opening for a Technical Writer who is passionate about his or her craft.

The Technical Writer is responsible for compiling technical information related to the Microgrid Control products. This includes owning the complete development cycle for user manuals, installation guides, release notes, compatibility guides, design diagrams, schematics and other technical documents related to the Microgrid Control application. This position works closely with engineering, software development, and marketing groups to solicit complex technical material and turn it into effective yet easy to follow documentation. A self-motivated individual is imperative; one who is always looking for ways to improve the user experience, stay abreast with modern writing techniques, tools, and delivery methods, and able to manage a variety of project priorities to meet launch deadlines.

Job Responsibilities :

• Create end user materials in multiple formats (online help, software manuals, release notes, interactive, video)

• Conform to company brand styles, terminology, and tools

• Identify and promote new technologies, tools, and documentation formats to incorporate into existing product literature deliverables; develop proof of concepts for group evaluation and approval

• Actively participate in engineering product development lifestyle

• Gather technical material including specifications, technical drawings, product features, and advisories for inclusion in respective documents

• Ability to deploy and update the enterprise software application; build up and maintain a real-world demonstration database for use in capturing screenshots for documentation

• Review material from other team members or resources for data accuracy, conformance, and completeness

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities or quick release turnarounds

• Manage a repository of technical documentation change requests; estimate effort, prioritize, and assign issues to team members

Qualifications

Requirement:

• Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited College or University

Required

• At least 6 years' experience in a technical position

• Excellent verbal and written skills in relation to technical documentation required. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to understand the intricate technical details of how a product functions

• Ability to interact with several different organizational levels and geographical locations to solicit information and translate into meaningful documentation.

• Highly motivated and self-driven, ability to work on projects alone. Receives only general instructions on new work. Uses judgment, creativity, and sound technical knowledge to generate documentation

• Demonstrated experience delivering results in an ambiguous and changing environment, with the ability to work independently and be a self-starter, working multi-task on several initiatives at one time, in a fast-moving and evolving business

• Ability to demonstrate technical learning and can learn new skills, knowledge, industry, product, or technical knowledge

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in engineering, software, graphic design, or similar necessary to fully comprehend the software product's technical functions and interoperability with hardware. Proven experience with Adobe Acrobat, FrameMaker, Illustrator and Photoshop.

• Understanding of renewable energy, and battery energy storage systems & microgrid controls, energy management systems, and electrical communications.

• Practical experience with Microsoft office and Captivate/Camtasia/or similar video development software.

• Experience online help applications. General understanding of VM environments, networks, and software installations. Basic SQL and Windows services knowledge.

• High proficiency in spoken and written English.

• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.

• Strong communication and interpersonal relationships skills.

• Experience working with engineering to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content

• Knowledge in mathematics: linear algebra and numerical calculations.

• Knowledge in programming language: Python.

• Fluency in English

• Ability to learn quickly and apply new concepts, principles, and solutions

• Possess a good sense of diplomacy and respect for colleagues

• Excellent problem solving, analytical and time management skills
