Position Summary:

As part of our exciting growth, we are looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products, by making them easier to understand and use.

In this role, you will communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, without relying on jargon. As a technical writer, your role involves tasks such as writing conceptual overviews and procedures, reading and writing example code, or updating help centre queries and FAQs.

The position is a key link between engineers, marketing associates, developer advocates, as well as all the external users and developers, tying together many vital but disparate parts of our product ecosystem. To be successful in this role, you must be able to communicate clearly to audiences with these varying levels of technical proficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience for external publication.
  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • Work with product managers to create product release documents and associated product features documents.
  • Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications.
  • Edit, clarify, and proofread documentation written by others. Act as the designated contact for suggestions and updates to documents.
  • Help develop designs and standards to develop and deliver documentation for Quaero products.
Requirements
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent visual communication skills, ability to create informative and appealing info graphics and slides for communication of architecture and data flows.
  • Ability to understand the end user, structure and communicate information accordingly.
  • General knowledge/familiarity of big data, RestAPIs and architecture.
  • Ability to format and construct well-formatted HTML/CSS pages.
  • Ability to understand technology (e.g., previous experience as an engineer or having successfully written about engineering and technology) and technical aptitude for documenting code examples.
  • Ability to edit screenshots and format (Adobe Photoshop is a plus).
  • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences on complex technical solutions.
  • Familiarity with Confluence, ReadTheDocs is a plus.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage all aspects of documentation production.
  • Ability to work with geographically distributed team members and developer.
  • Comfortable working in an open office environment with Slack communications.
Experience:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Science, Technical Communication or similar field.
  • Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation.
  • Experienced using multiple documentation tools to develop base templates and manipulate output styles.
  • Familiarity with using Git as a version management tool.
  • Experience with installation and configuration of cloud infrastructure and services (ReadTheDocs, Jira).
  • Previous experience working in an agile environment.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years in a technical writing or lead writing role.
  • Experience with a variety of content management and publishing systems.
  • Experience working directly with development teams.
  • Collaborative, creative, empathetic, and curious, with a proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results.
  • Ability to quickly iterate and improve.
