Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Technical Sales Director (Corrosion & Metallurgy) to lead our dynamic sales team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corrosion and metallurgy, coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. This leadership role is crucial for driving sales growth by leveraging technical expertise to understand and address client needs, developing strategic sales plans, and mentoring a team to achieve company objectives. The Technical Sales Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-level client relationships, identifying industry needs, providing technical solutions, and contributing to the overall strategic direction and success of our sales organization.
Responsibilities:
Technical Sales Leadership & Strategy:
Develop a technical sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Utilize in-depth knowledge of corrosion and metallurgy to provide high-level technical sales support and consultations to key clients.
Oversee the development and implementation of technical sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand market share.
Understand and interpret complex client technical specifications and requirements, ensuring the team can effectively address them.
Recommend appropriate products and solutions based on client needs and project requirements, guiding the team in this process.
Conduct and oversee technical presentations and demonstrations to showcase product capabilities to clients.
Business Development & Account Management:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities at a strategic level, including market analysis and expansion.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential key clients, focusing on long-term partnerships.
Generate and qualify leads through various channels, including networking, industry events, and strategic alliances.
Oversee the preparation and delivery of complex sales proposals and quotations.
Negotiate and close high-value contracts and sales deals.
Client Relationship Management:
Act as a primary point of escalation for client issues, ensuring the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.
Ensure the team addresses client inquiries and resolves any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and sales activities, overseeing the team's CRM usage.
Provide post-sales support and ensure client satisfaction, maintaining a focus on long-term relationships.
Market Analysis & Reporting:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements in corrosion and metallurgy, providing insights to the team and management.
Provide regular reports on sales activities, market analysis, performance metrics, and forecasts to senior management.
Contribute to the development of overall sales strategies and initiatives, driving the team to meet company goals.
Team Leadership & Development:
Recruit, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing technical sales team.
Set clear performance goals and expectations for team members, conducting regular performance reviews.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Identify training needs and provide opportunities for team members to enhance their technical and sales skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's/Masters degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, material properties, and related technologies.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong negotiation, closing, and strategic selling skills.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently, as well as lead a team to achieve goals.
Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to travel as needed.
