Job Description


The position will be to work as Subsea pipeline engineer for the various projects undertaken by the company. The engineer will be part of the KBR global subsea pipeline team and will be based in Delhi office but can be flexible to work from Pune and Chennai office. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (advanced degree preferred), with 5+ years of experience in offshore pipeline design. Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Completely conversant with current design practices, codes & standards applicable to subsea pipeline systems and design activities;
  • Experience in offshore rigid pipeline design activities such as wall thickness, in-place design, free span etc.;
  • Knowledge of pipeline stress analysis software such as CAESAR II/AUTOPIPE or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of subsea specific pipeline software’s such as SAGE 3D, AGA, DNV suites; and
  • Knowledge of analytical tools like Mathcad, Excel, Word etc.
Preferred Technical Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in conceptual / FEED / detailed engineering design of subsea pipeline developments;
  • Past involvement as subsea pipeline engineer with major oil & gas engineering / EPC companies;
  • Knowledge of the use of ORCAFLEX in pipeline design analysis is a plus but not essential;
  • Knowledge of the use FEA software such as ABAQUS and scripting (Python), in pipeline design analyses, is a plus but not essential.

  • Can effectively work as a team member across multiple projects and good team player;
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role;
  • Good organisational and time management skills, work to deadlines set by management;
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the team and with relevant project teams; and
  • Should be dedicated and have the ability to motivate themselves and embrace new challenges
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide relevant skills, integrity and knowledge in subsea pipeline engineering including design codes, legislative requirements, client specifications, and industry engineering practice;
  • Perform offshore design activities such as pipeline route optimization, wall thickness calculation, pipe-soil interaction design, on-bottom stability analysis, expansion analysis, free span analysis, riser and tie-in spool design, on-bottom roughness analysis, cathodic protection design, global pipeline buckling and walking analysis, dropped object and trawl gear impact study, installation analysis etc.;
  • Take responsibility for the production and review of high-quality deliverables including material take-off, design reports, technical notes, engineering drawings (in collaboration with draftsmen), design review slide packs, technical scope of work, technical queries, deviation requests, risk assessments etc.;
  • Carry out subsea pipeline and spool design analysis using available tools and software such as ABAQUS/ANSYS, CAESAR II/AUTOPIPE, DNV tools, SAGE 3D, AGA, ORCAFLEX, Mathcad spreadsheets or similar software;
  • Participate in pipeline project team and discipline meetings;
  • Take ownership, organise and prioritise allocated tasks;
  • Manage time constraints to meet deadlines;
  • Contribute to discipline developments such as engineering tools, continuous improvements and technology developments; and
  • Actively participate in training and pursue continuing professional development.
