About the team: The Application Data Services department provides world-class database and streaming solutions, both on-premise and on public cloud, to our infrastructure and product development teams. We ensure secure, reliable, and scalable transport and storage of data for our business and infrastructure services. Our data services currently cover technologies like MySQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Confluent, and Elasticsearch. We are expanding this with complementary cloud database technologies. Within this department, the SQL Resilience team focuses on ensuring data reliability, availability, and recoverability across Booking's MySQL and AWS-based data estate. Our mission is to guarantee robust backup and restore mechanisms, standardized Disaster Recovery environments, and seamless integration with internal systems such as DQS, Integ SQL, and Archive SQL.
Role Description: As a Tech Product Manager for this role, you'll be responsible for defining and executing the strategy for a subset of products in our B.SQL Track.. This role sits in the critical area of Cloud & Database Services, overseeing both on-premise data platforms (e.g., MySQL, Cassandra) and cloud-native platform (e.g. Amazon RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB), as well as the suite of tooling, Infrastructure as code templates and services for security, scalability, compliance and governance on top of these platforms.
This role will be instrumental in driving Booking.com's data and modernization journey - enabling scalability, privacy, compliance, and governance while empowering teams to move faster and innovate with confidence. And you will play a pivotal role in enhancing Booking.com's data resilience posture - covering backup strategy, restore validation, and disaster recovery readiness - empowering teams to innovate without compromising business continuity or compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Set a long-term vision and multi-year roadmap for SQL Resilience and Recovery platforms, encompassing MySQL, AWS RDS/Aurora, and related services, with a focus on operational excellence, data durability, and recovery readiness.
Drive cross-organizational alignment on resilience strategy and disaster recovery priorities, influencing senior stakeholders and engineering leaders across Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams.
Partner closely with engineering teams to deliver scalable, automated, and verifiable backup, restore, and archival solutions that meet Booking's high standards for availability and data protection.
Define and monitor success metrics such as RPO/RTO performance, restore reliability, and backup coverage, using data-driven insights to guide prioritization and investment decisions.
Mentor and support other Product Managers and technical leads in adopting resilience-first design principles and best practices for database reliability.
Champion the integration of Backup/Restore, Disaster Recovery, and Archive SQL services into broader Booking.com data platforms, enabling teams to build confidently on a robust and recoverable data foundation.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Compliance, and Cloud Platform teams to manage risk, optimize operational spend, and ensure adherence to data governance, privacy, and retention policies.

Role Qualifications and Requirements:
5+ years of product management experience delivering technical, platform, or infrastructure products, ideally in database, cloud, or data resilience domains.
Proven ability to define a clear product vision and roadmap grounded in real customer needs and measurable outcomes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence across diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders and build trusted relationships across teams and geographies.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with engineering to design and deliver large-scale, reliable, and high-availability systems, both on Cloud (AWS) and On-Premise.
Skilled at managing complexity and ambiguity in a matrix environment while driving alignment and business impact.
Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to inform decisions, measure success, and prioritize effectively.
Experience in end-to-end solution delivery, from discovery to implementation and adoption, with a focus on quality, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Familiarity with MySQL, cloud database technologies (e.g. AWS RDS/Aurora), and disaster recovery or backup systems is a strong plus.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written; Computer Science or related technical background is a plus.
