Role Summary:

The Technical Manager - Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) is responsible for leading the design, engineering, and execution of instrumentation, control, and grid interface systems for cryogenic EPC projects such as LNG, hydrogen, industrial gas, and air separation units. The role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant control, protection, and automation solutions aligned with cryogenic plant and grid operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead instrumentation and control engineering activities for cryogenic EPC projects with grid interfaces. Develop I&C design philosophy, control architecture, and technical specifications. Act as technical authority for DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, and grid interface control systems. Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, ISA, API, NFPA, and project-specific standards. Define control system architecture for cryogenic processes, utilities, and electrical grid interfaces. Coordinate I&C requirements for substations, switchyards, and grid protection interfaces. Review and approve P&IDs, instrument datasheets, I/O lists, cause & effect charts, and logic diagrams. Ensure integration between electrical protection systems and plant control systems. Lead safety system design including SIS, ESD, F&G systems aligned with cryogenic hazards. Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA studies for cryogenic facilities. Address cryogenic-specific instrumentation challenges such as low-temperature measurement, material compatibility, and reliability. Support procurement, vendor document review, FAT, SAT, installation, loop checking, and commissioning. Resolve site technical queries, deviations, and non-conformances. Coordinate with electrical, process, mechanical, and piping disciplines for integrated plant design. Interface with licensors, utilities, grid operators, and clients for control and protection integration.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Control Engineering (Master's preferred). 12-18 years of I&C engineering experience with at least 5-7 years in cryogenic or grid-integrated projects. Experience in LNG, hydrogen, industrial gas, ASU, or large EPC projects preferred.

We are known for our extraordinary people who make the impossible possible every day. Questians are driven by hunger, humility, and aspiration. We believe that our company culture is the key to our ability to make a true difference in every industry we reach. Work Experience

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA, and SIS systems used in cryogenic plants. Experience with grid interface controls, protection signaling, and substation automation. Familiarity with field instruments for cryogenic service (pressure, temperature, flow, analyzers). Knowledge of SIL-rated systems, functional safety standards (IEC 61508/61511). Understanding of hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety.

Soft Skills:

Strong technical leadership and decision-making ability. Capability to mentor engineers and manage multidisciplinary coordination. Effective communication with utilities, licensors, clients, and EPC stakeholders.

Work Environment:

EPC engineering offices, cryogenic plant sites, substations, and construction locations with periodic travel.
