The Calibration Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing all calibration activities, ensuring technical accuracy, quality compliance, and adherence to national and international standards such as ISO/IEC 17025. The role involves managing technical staff, developing calibration procedures, reviewing reports, and maintaining accreditation requirements with NABL or other certifying authorities.
Lead and supervise the calibration team across all disciplines (electrical, mechanical, thermal, pressure, etc.).
Approve calibration methods, uncertainty calculations, and measurement traceability.
Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of master equipment and reference standards.
Review and authorize calibration certificates and reports.
2. Quality & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with
ISO/IEC 17025:2017
and NABL accreditation requirements.
Participate in internal audits, management reviews, and external audits by accreditation bodies.
Monitor and maintain environmental conditions required for accurate calibration.
Implement and oversee corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for non-conformities.
3. Documentation & Accreditation:
Prepare and maintain calibration procedures, work instructions, and uncertainty budgets.
Maintain updated
Scope of Accreditation
and support in expansion of calibration disciplines.
Review calibration records and ensure traceability to national/international standards (NPL, NIST, etc.).
4. Training & Development:
Train and mentor calibration engineers and technicians on technical procedures and standards.
Evaluate competency levels and ensure skill enhancement within the team.
5. Client & Technical Support:
Provide expert guidance to clients on technical calibration queries and uncertainty interpretation.
Support marketing and business teams with technical documentation and client proposals.
6. Continuous Improvement:
Drive improvements in calibration accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time.
Evaluate and implement advanced calibration technologies and automation systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
B.E. / B.Tech / M.Sc. in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 10 + years of experience in calibration, with at least 3 years in a managerial or lead role.
Hands-on experience in NABL-accredited calibration laboratories.
Strong understanding of
ISO/IEC 17025:2017
, measurement uncertainty, and metrology principles.
