Role Profile
We are looking for a seasoned SRE professional to serve as Technical Lead - Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for Snowflake environments within the Risk Intelligence business, based in Bangalore, India. This role combines leadership and hands-on technical responsibilities as a member of the Production SRE Support Team within the Markets and Risk Intelligence division, managing Level 2 support for Data Store (Snowflake) across production and selected non-production environments.
The role involves managing testing, build, and implementation of releases, as well as independent infrastructure and environment support. Working within the wider SRE Support Team, the focus will be on delivering the change programme across all lifecycles--from development, test, UAT, Member Test, to Production environments. A production-focused approach is essential, with resilience, operational readiness, performance, and production support at the forefront of delivery.
Flexibility to work across different shifts aligned to UK time is expected, with occasional out-of-hours support including nights, weekends, and holidays. The role involves collaborating with business teams for investigations and providing technical guidance when needed. A good understanding of underlying technologies and the ability to assist developers with fixes or enhancements is important. The ideal candidate should be dedicated and able to manage priorities effectively without rigid oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Execution
Support a critical element of the London financial infrastructure by ensuring reliability and operational excellence.
Provide leadership and significant stakeholder management across technical and business teams.
Supervise highly available and scalable Snowflake databases across Post Trade Division.
Implement standard processes for Snowflake administration including backup, recovery, security, and performance tuning.
Automate deployment and maintenance using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Build operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and AWS infrastructure analysis.
Participate in SRE projects and on-call rotations to maintain operational expertise.
Design and implement long-term fixes for application bugs and minor enhancements.
Update code repositories and documentation (Wiki) and coordinate release processes.
Operational Excellence
Manage shifts to ensure 24x5 onsite coverage and 24x7 on-call support.
Own the incident management process and oversee resolution of production incidents.
Apply ITIL practices across incident, problem, change, and service request management.
Use ServiceNow for ITSM workflows, automation, and reporting.
Ensure SLA and OLA compliance through regular reviews and implement improvement plans.
Ensure DR readiness, runbook completeness, and operational resilience.
Monitor and improve system performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
Maintain high standards of security, compliance, and audit readiness.
Configure monitoring and logging tools (preferably Datadog) across application resources.
Collaboration & Mentorship
Partner with engineering leads, product managers, and platform architects to embed reliability into product delivery.
Mentor junior SREs and engineers on technical standards, tooling, and incident handling.
Contribute to technical knowledge sharing and documentation.
Support global SRE initiatives and cross-regional collaboration.
Person Specification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
Required Skills and Experience
10+ years in SRE, Database, Data wareshouse Technologies with deep technical expertise.
Hands-on experience optimizing Snowflake and Oracle DB environments.
Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization techniques.
Preferably Snowflake DB certification (SnowPro Core or Advanced).
Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies (EC2, EBS, RDS, VPC, Aurora, MSK, ALB, ECR) or Azure equivalent.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Experience with data ingestion pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
Good knowledge of DevOps and related technologies: CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible, Kafka.
Exposure to XML, network diagnostics, and web servers.
Hands-on experience with version control and deployment tools (Bitbucket, GitLab, Docker, Terraform, Terragrunt, Flyway, Liquibase).
Experience with IT vendor products such as Datadog, Moogsoft, Atlassian suite, Salesforce, ServiceNow.
Good communication skills and ability to clearly convey technical concepts to IT and business teams.
Ability to influence and negotiate effectively to achieve consensus.
