Role Overview



We are looking for a dynamic and experienced

Technical Lead

who can take ownership of technical delivery while also guiding projects end-to-end. This role requires a unique blend of

technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management acumen

. The ideal candidate will mentor a growing development team, interact with clients, and work closely with the sales and management teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Architecture



Define and maintain

technical architecture, coding standards, and best practices

. Provide direction on technology choices across

open-source GIS tools (PostGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers, Leaflet, Cesium)

and

ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise)

. Ensure scalability, security, and performance in solution design. Stay ahead of emerging trends in

AI/ML for geospatial, big data, and cloud-native applications

.

Project & Delivery Management



Own end-to-end delivery of client projects, ensuring quality and timelines. Translate client requirements into actionable technical roadmaps. Collaborate with

project managers and sales executives

to define project scope, set realistic timelines, and allocate resources. Manage project risks, dependencies, and proactively resolve challenges. Track progress and provide regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Mentorship



Lead, coach, and motivate a team of developers, fostering continuous learning and innovation. Conduct code reviews, ensure adherence to best practices, and promote knowledge sharing. Help team members overcome technical blockers and grow in their roles. Build a culture of

accountability, collaboration, and ownership

within the team.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement



Act as a

technical advisor

to clients, helping them understand solution possibilities. Support the

sales team

in pre-sales activities such as proposals, estimations, and technical presentations. Represent Rotten Grapes in

client meetings, workshops, and demos

. Build long-term relationships by ensuring client satisfaction and trust.

Innovation & R&D



Drive research and proof-of-concepts (POCs) in open-source and proprietary GIS tools. Evaluate the

interoperability of open-source with ESRI stack

, ensuring flexibility for clients. Explore opportunities for product/IP development in GIS and related fields.

Required Skills & Qualifications



Core Technical Expertise

Strong in

Python, JavaScript/TypeScript (React, Node.js)

. Hands-on with

PostGIS, GeoServer, MapServer, QGIS, OpenLayers, Leaflet, Cesium, Turf.js

. Solid experience in

ESRI ecosystem (ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online)

. Experience with

cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)

,

Docker/Kubernetes

, and CI/CD.

Project & People Management

Proven ability to

lead teams of 5-15 developers

. Strong background in

Agile/Scrum methodologies

. Skilled in

project planning, effort estimation, and risk management

. Ability to balance

technical execution with stakeholder communication

.

Soft Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams. Analytical mindset and structured approach to problem-solving.

Preferred / Nice to Have



Prior experience working with

MNCs or global clients

. Exposure to

AI/ML applications in geospatial

. Knowledge of

big data (Spark, Dask, Rasterio, GeoPandas, STAC APIs)

. Contributions to

open-source GIS projects

Pay: ₹28,011.02 - ₹45,000.00 per month
