ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY & THE TEAM

Wind River Systems is seeking a Senior Member Technical Staff - Certification Center of Excellence Technical Lead for our Professional Services Safety Certification team in Bangalore, India. This high-performing leader will help direct the creation, hiring and day-to-day activities of a forming, co-located team. You will interact with our highly skilled global teams in North America or Europe on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will have the unique mix of skills:

• Visionary team leadership. You\'ll help hire, grow and retain the team, train them following the Wind River certification methodology, work with the WR Certification Office to improve the Certification processes, and be the primary technical lead responsible for providing the certification evidence for projects that will deliver best in class, safest and highest quality software on the planet. These projects can come from multiple industries such as Aerospace and Defense, Industrial, Medical and Automotive verticals.
• Demonstrated experience supporting complex, time critical international projects.
• Someone who appreciates the value of efficient processes.
• Strong understanding of embedded software development using C or C++ programming languages. Having an Engineering degree and coding/programming experience with embedded software will give you the right technical mindset and the ability to help your team. While application level embedded software is good, lower-level embedded software (board support packages, bootloaders, device drivers) is better.
• Past exposure and experience to safety certification standards including DO-178C required with knowledge of IEC61508, IEC62304, ISO26262 being highly desirable.
• Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality are required. A good working knowledge of various Software Engineering processes and tools will also help you be successful. And when you don\'t know the answer, the ability to find the answer, learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment will come in handy.

The role will work out of our new office in Bangalore in Brigade Tech Gardens reporting to the Director, Delivery -Certification. Domestic and international travel could be up to 20% of the job.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Certification, validation, and verification for new and modified existing embedded software products.

Required:

• 6+ years experience with embedded software development
• 3 years leading other engineers
• 2+ years working with software that is safety certified
• Demonstrated experience supporting US and EMEA organizations
• Solid understanding of full lifecycle software engineering concepts (requirements, high- and low-level design documents, peer reviews, testing, etc.)
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn new technologies and tools quickly and with little guidance
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent, or equivalent experience

Preferred:

• Experience modifying real-time operating systems such as VxWorks.
• Experience modifying near real-time operating systems such as Linux.
• Experience modifying Hypervisors and Virtual Machines such a Helix Virtualization Platform (HVP).
• An understanding of the role that secure software and safety certification plays in embedded software products like airplanes, space vehicles, automobiles, trains, industrial equipment, and medical equipment.
