Job Title Technical General Manager - DRI Plant Location

Raigarh Chhattisgarh Reporting To [ Managing Director] Role Purpose The Technical General Manager is responsible for the overall technical, operational, and maintenance performance of the DRI plant. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) while meeting quality, environmental, and reliability targets. Key Responsibilities Plant Operations & Performance Oversee day-to-day operation of the DRI plant to achieve production, quality, and energy efficiency targets Ensure stable plant operation, optimal metallization, carbon content, and product quality Drive continuous improvement in plant availability, productivity, and specific consumption Technical Leadership Provide technical leadership on DRI process (shaft furnace, reformer, gas handling, cooling, briquetting if applicable) Lead process optimization, debottlenecking, and troubleshooting activities Analyze plant performance data and implement corrective and preventive actions Maintenance & Reliability Oversee mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance strategies Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance systems Improve equipment reliability, plant uptime, and maintenance cost control Safety, Health & Environment (HSE) Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, operating procedures, and statutory regulations Promote a strong safety culture across operations and maintenance teams Ensure compliance with environmental norms related to emissions, energy, and waste Projects & Capital Works Lead plant upgrades, revamps, and capacity expansion projects Coordinate with technology suppliers, OEMs, consultants, and contractors Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and as per technical specifications People Management Lead, mentor, and develop technical and operational teams Build succession planning and training programs for critical roles Foster cross-functional collaboration and performance-driven culture Budgeting & Cost Control Prepare and manage annual operating and maintenance budgets Control costs related to energy, raw materials, spares, and consumables Support commercial and procurement teams with technical evaluations Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with ISO, statutory, and internal audit requirements Prepare technical and operational reports for senior management Support inspections, audits, and regulatory interactions Qualifications & Experience Education Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Chemical Engineering Master's degree preferred Experience 15-20+ years of experience in ironmaking, with minimum 8-10 years in DRI plant operations Strong exposure to MIDREX / HYL / Energiron or similar DRI technologies Experience in senior technical or plant leadership roles Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of DRI process and ironmaking fundamentals Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills Proven leadership and people management capability Strong understanding of safety and environmental compliance Budgeting, cost control, and project management skills Good communication and stakeholder management abilities Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Plant availability and productivity DRI quality and metallization levels Energy and raw material consumption Safety performance (LTI, incidents) Maintenance cost and reliability metrics

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?80,000.00 - ?150,000.00 per month
