Job Overview
The Manager and Subject Matter Expert for Lamination; Pouch Manufacturing has 4 major direct impacts on the Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific business:
1) Specify new equipment and acceptance criteria/tests. Specification to future proof the business. Standardisation and defining a clear target focus of the functionality of the equipment instead of a broad generic platform.
2) Define and set machine conditions; process parameters and develop and improve the skill and knowledge base of Business Units and Sites Operations and Technical Personnel.
3) Assist with Business turn arounds and under-performing sites, re-establishing Good Manufacturing Practice and developing recovery plans to restore operational and equipment conditions.
4) For major quality spills, determine root cause and prescribe remedial actions and assist with implementation of these actions.

Overall, to provide expert advice, leadership, and support to all the Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific sites, in selecting equipment and defining best manufacturing practice for the processes covered.

Principal Accountabilities
Overall to provide expert advice, leadership, and support to Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific Business Units and Sites in selecting equipment; commission equipment and defining best manufacturing practice, for the processes covered.
1) Specify new equipment and acceptance criteria/tests. Specification includes future proofing the business for anticipated changes in products and technology. Standardisation and defining a clear target focus of the functionality of the equipment instead of a broad generic platform.
2) Drive commissioning and acceptance tests for new equipment/new technology. Lead and support sites in the step change that comes with new equipment/technology, to optimise the new investment.
3) Define and set machine conditions and process parameters to optimise efficiency and to reduce waste to the minimum. Promote and drive standardised process and \xe2\x80\x9ccentre-lining\xe2\x80\x9d.
4) Develop and improve the skill and knowledge base of Business Unit\'s and Sites Operations and Technical Personnel by engaging team members when doing projects with them. Developing Best Practise; formalising this in documentation and training/developing training material.
5) Assist with Business turn-arounds / under-performing sites, re-establishing Good Manufacturing Process by developing and executing recovery plans to restore operational and equipment conditions.
6) For major quality spills, determine root cause and prescribe remedial actions and assist with implementation of these actions.
7) Stay abreast of new technology (equipment, process & structures).
8) Develop vendors to meet Amcor\'s stringent safety and cutting-edge equipment processing capabilities and capacities.
9) Provide leadership and guidance to Business Unit Process Engineers and Technical personnel to increase their technical expertise and knowledge. Knowledge to be cascaded from Business Groups to Business Units to Site. (Depending on structure and competency at the various levels).
10) Onboard new or enable localisation of structures/technology and establish optimal processing conditions to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.

Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge and Experience

  • University degree, Diploma or Advance Certificate in an applied science discipline and demonstrated experience in the field of Material Science / Chemistry / Food Science / Packaging Technology.
  • Must have industry experience in Packaging Materials, Adhesive Systems, Coatings and lamination and coatings manufacturing applications and preferably Pouch manufacturing experience also.
  • Extensive Technical / R&D experience within Amcor or competitor
  • Chemistry background / Chemistry knowledge essential
  • Excellent knowledge in Adhesive Lamination principles and practises.
  • Excellent knowledge in Root Cause Analysis principles and practises.
