The Cloud Security Engineer will be a key member of the Platform Security - Security Engineering team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust cloud security solutions within the Microsoft Azure environment. This role will focus on securing Azure resources, enforcing security best practices, and integrating DevSecOps methodologies into cloud engineering workflows. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the configuration, tuning, and continuous improvement of Microsoft Defender for Cloud, ensuring compliance, threat protection, and visibility across the enterprise cloud estate.
What you'll do
Core Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage cloud-native security controls in Microsoft Azure, with a focus on Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, and security posture management.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates (ARM, Bicep, Terraform) to automate deployment of secure cloud resources.
Integrate security into DevOps workflows (DevSecOps) using Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, and automated compliance validation.
Monitor and remediate security recommendations, regulatory compliance gaps, and alerts generated by Defender for Cloud.
Collaborate with SOC to enhance detection and response capabilities through Azure-native security tooling.
Automate security operations tasks via Logic Apps, Function Apps, and REST API integrations.
Perform threat modelling and risk assessments for new cloud workloads and architecture changes.
Advise and guide application and platform teams on secure-by-design principles and cloud-native security patterns.
Develop security reporting dashboards leveraging Azure Monitor, Workbooks, and Power BI for visibility across the cloud estate.
Support compliance initiatives by aligning cloud configurations to standards such as CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, and regulatory requirements.
Onboarding of Security telemetry from Azure Cloud (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) into Microsoft Sentinel

What you'll need
7+ years of experience in Cyber Security
Microsoft Azure Certifications - AZ-500, AZ-400, AZ-104, AZ-900
Strong understanding of Microsoft Defender for Cloud configuration, Management, and incident response workflows
Experience with Microsoft Azure Deployment, Development & Automation
Proven experience in securing large-scale Azure Cloud environments in an enterprise context
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as ARM, Bicep and Terraform
Strong proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python, Bash) for automation
Experience with Azure Policy, Initiatives, Blueprints and governance at scale
Working knowledge of Azure networking security (NSGs, ASGs, Firewalls, Private endpoints)
Experience with Azure DevOps and secure CI/CD pipeline design
Familiarity with REST API integrations for security tooling
Strong understanding of identity and access management in Azure (Entra ID, PIM, Conditional Access)
Experience with deploying and managing Microsoft Sentinel & Log Analytics
Experience with Azure Logic Apps, Function Apps, & App Services
Authoring of complex and quality reporting.
Analytical approach to problem solving

Knowledge of security event analysis in Microsoft Sentinel and integration with Defender for Cloud
