Role & Responsibility

Responsible to lead business analysis functions for medium to large-scale projects and enhancements. Formulates and defines system scope and objectives based on user needs, a thorough understanding of applicable business systems, and industry best practices. Creates or modifies processes and procedures to solve problems, considering technical feasibility and desired results.



This role works closely with vendor partners, team members, business and IT leaders to elicit and document business needs and requirements.



A candidate for this position must be a self-starter and able to work in a varied, fast-paced environment as part of a service delivery function for client



Essential Job Functions:



1. Responsible to lead business requirements gathering for projects and enhancements.



2. Responsible for managing and facilitating communications between IT teams, business, and vendors.



3. Assists in formulating and designing system scope and objectives based on user needs and thorough understanding of business processes.



4. Identifies, evaluates, and recommends potential solution options, supports the resolution via projects and enhancements through to production deployment.



5. Performs operational support activities to triage and research production support issues, advocates for business users, and manage resolution of production defects through to production deployment.



6. Provides subject matter expertise and guidance to project team members concerning P&C insurance and system implementations.



7. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Participates in the full software development life cycle (SDLC).



a. Collects and defines requirements



b. Translates into functional design documents



c. Participates in technical design



d. Participates in test planning and may coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT)



e. Supports execution of both QA and UAT phases



f. Participates in user documentation processes



g. Assists with training users on new or enhanced applications



h. Supports Go Live activities including production smoke testing and post Go Live activities



9. Participates in operational support turnover activities including creation of Quick Reference Guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and other job aids as applicable.

Requirements

We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to support our Unit4 SaaS Migration Programme. Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, this role will serve as the engine room for documentation, ensuring the successful migration of our financial systems from an on-premise environment to a cloud-based SaaS solution. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong technical understanding combined with exceptional documentation discipline.



Key Requirements



Essential (Must Have):



ERP/Financial Systems Migration: Proven experience in delivering complex ERP migrations, particularly transitions from on-premise to SaaS. A thorough understanding of financial data lifecycles and the migration of General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Project Costing modules is required. Technical Documentation Expertise: Demonstrable ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Process Definition Documents (PDD), and detailed data mapping schemas. Higher Education Sector Knowledge: Experience within the UK Higher Education sector, with a solid understanding of university finance and governance structures.


Highly Desirable:



Unit4 Experience: Previous exposure to Unit4 Business World (Agresso) is highly advantageous. Candidates with relevant experience in Oracle, SAP, or Dynamics within a university setting will also be considered.

Technical Documentation: Own the creation and maintenance of all technical project documentation, ensuring compliance with audit and governance standards. As-Is & To-Be Mapping: Document current technical processes and define future SaaS configuration requirements. Gap Analysis: Produce detailed reports highlighting functional differences between the current on-premise solution and the SaaS offering. Data Mapping: Develop comprehensive field-to-field data mapping documents, including transformation rules for migration. Testing Support: Assist in the development of technical test scripts and document User Acceptance Testing (UAT) outcomes.
