Role Overview

The Technical Author will be responsible for preparing, validating, and delivering high-quality aviation technical documentation in compliance with

S1000D

and

ATA 1000BR

standards. The role involves creating XML-based Data Modules, developing illustrated graphics with hotspots, and producing consolidated PDF publications for various aircraft manuals.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, update, and maintain aviation technical documentation as per

S1000D

and

ATA 1000BR

specifications. Create and structure

XML Data Modules

using appropriate authoring tools. Produce

illustrated graphics

, including hotspot integrations, to support technical content. Compile and deliver

PDF publications

for multiple aircraft maintenance manuals, including:

AMM

(Aircraft Maintenance Manual)

AIPC

(Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalog)

FIM

(Fault Isolation Manual)

WDM

(Wiring Diagram Manual)

ITEM

(Illustrated Technical Equipment Manual)

CMM

(Component Maintenance Manual)

GSE

(Ground Support Equipment manuals) Review and validate technical content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with engineering, design, and quality teams to gather required inputs and resolve technical queries. Ensure timely delivery of all documentation deliverables as per project requirements. Support documentation lifecycle activities including versioning, configuration management, and technical reviews.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, or a related technical field. Strong knowledge of

S1000D

,

ATA 1000BR

, and aviation documentation standards. Hands-on experience with XML authoring tools and CSDB systems. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical data. Experience creating illustrations/graphics using tools like

Adobe Illustrator

,

CorelDRAW

, or equivalent. Excellent technical writing, proofreading, and documentation skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with aircraft maintenance or aviation regulatory documentation. Familiarity with SGML/XML schemas and structured authoring environments. Good understanding of aircraft systems, components, and maintenance concepts.
