About the Role



We're seeking an experienced technical author or senior content writer for a permanent, full-time position developing business content for C-Suite executives and senior leaders at small and medium-sized enterprises.

Your first project will be completing a business book that addresses the practical challenges these leaders face when navigating technology decisions, digital transformation, and innovation. The manuscript is already underway, with the first chapters and 30-40 pages drafted. You'll pick up this foundation, refine it, and bring the project to publication within 4-6 months.

This book is the first in a planned series. Beyond completing the initial manuscript, you'll have an ongoing role developing subsequent books and other business content materials as we expand the series.

What makes this role different: You'll work closely with a subject matter expert who has deep industry knowledge. Your job is to transform their expertise into clear, engaging prose that resonates with senior business leaders. Think of it as collaborative authoring where you bring the writing craft and editorial rigour whilst the author provides the strategic insights and technical knowledge.

The Role



You'll work closely with the author to develop manuscripts and business content that balance technical accuracy with engaging, accessible prose.

Technical depth:

You don't need to be a software developer or technologist, but you should be comfortable discussing technology concepts at a strategic level. The book focuses on business implications of technology decisions rather than implementation details. Think "Should we build or buy?" rather than "How do we architect this system?"

While your initial focus will be completing the first book, this is a permanent role with responsibility for developing subsequent titles in the series and other supporting materials.

Key Responsibilities

Continue and refine existing content: Review the drafted chapters, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and develop the manuscript from its current state to completion Collaborate with the author: Conduct regular working sessions to capture ideas, clarify concepts, and ensure the voice and vision remain aligned throughout Research independently: Investigate and synthesise material across business strategy, innovation methodologies, digital transformation, procurement, and custom software development Write for a C-Suite audience: Produce clear, compelling prose that respects the reader's intelligence whilst remaining practical and actionable Meet deadlines: Deliver the first completed manuscript within 4-6 months, then continue developing subsequent books and materials according to agreed schedules Manage revisions: Respond to feedback constructively and iterate quickly on content Develop series content: Contribute to planning and developing future books and supporting materials as the series expands Adapt to new tools and methods: Show willingness to learn, integrate, and adapt to new technologies and workflows that enhance productivity and quality

Essential Skills and Experience

Proven long-form writing ability: A portfolio demonstrating your capacity to write comprehensive, well-structured content for professional audiences. This might include whitepapers, detailed reports, industry analyses, case studies, research papers, extensive documentation, or long-form journalism. Book experience is valuable but not essential Audience awareness: Experience writing for either business decision-makers or technically literate professionals. You should understand how to pitch content at the right level without oversimplifying or overwhelming the reader Subject matter understanding: Sufficient grasp of technology and business concepts to write confidently about digital transformation, software development, innovation, and business strategy. You'll work closely with a subject matter expert, but you need enough foundation to ask intelligent questions and spot gaps in logic Collaborative writing ability: Comfort working closely with subject matter experts to capture and refine their ideas. This includes conducting interviews, synthesising complex discussions, and iterating based on feedback Self-direction and research skills: Ability to investigate topics independently, identify credible sources, and fill knowledge gaps without constant supervision Project management: Track record of delivering substantial writing projects to deadline, managing your own workflow and priorities Adaptability: Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and methods that can improve your writing process and output quality

Desirable Qualifications

Book writing or ghost writing experience: Previous work on business books, self-help guides, or other book-length projects Background in technical writing, journalism, or professional writing Experience writing for or working within SMEs Understanding of innovation frameworks (e.g., Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Agile) Familiarity with software development processes and procurement challenges Experience using AI tools (such as large language models, research assistants, or editing tools) to enhance writing workflows Professional qualifications in writing, communications, or related fields

Clear, direct prose that avoids unnecessary jargon whilst maintaining credibility. You should be able to explain complex concepts accessibly and engage readers without overwriting.

Intellectual curiosity:

Genuine interest in the intersection of business and technology. You should enjoy learning about new topics and synthesising information from diverse sources.

Collaborative mindset:

Comfort with an iterative, dialogue-driven process. You'll work closely with the author throughout, which requires good listening skills, patience, and the ability to translate conversations into polished writing.

Professionalism and growth mindset:

Reliability, clear communication, and the ability to accept feedback constructively. If you haven't written a book before, that's fine--but you should be excited about the challenge and confident in your ability to scale up your existing skills.

Business acumen:

An understanding of how businesses operate and what concerns keep senior leaders awake at night. You don't need an MBA, but you should be able to think from a business perspective.
