Job Description

Embark your transformative journey with Barclays as a Tech Lead, Vice President where you'll play a pivotal role as technology expert and drive the business forward in helping our customers. You will own the architectural future of the technology platform you will be assigned and ensure that the developments align to the overall Barclays technology strategy. Your role will be responsible to ensure that solutions balance the delivery, technology and enterprise impacts and enable adherence of all resiliency, observability, supportability, security and operational readiness requirements. You will also need to take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do. You will also be responsible managing the team and project delivery.


To be successful in this role, you should have:

Solid experience in building a cloud native application using Java, Spring boot & Kafka. Good experience with AWS cloud services, finding solutions to optimize the cost. Experience working with heavy processing application using messaging services. Ability to produce comprehensive detailed technical design documentation. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Prior experience in a similar role within a large enterprise along with experience in guiding Senior Developers. Ability to be hands-on and lead by example, can deliver artifacts that set the standard across solutions, architecture, designs, engineering. Strong communication skills, stakeholder management, knowledge of Jira, Gitlab. Good understanding of the infrastructure architecture. Getting hands-on to trouble shoot any production issue that would need your attention.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

Experience with UI technologies like Angular/ReactJS. Good experience with any Database. Ability to understand the bigger picture, build Proof of Concepts and move it further. Experience in Technical Debt and Cyber Resiliency initiatives.

To lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.

Accountabilities



Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives. Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget. Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement. Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity. Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development. Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
