Job Title Tech Lead, Database Analysis

What does a successful Senior Database Administrator do?

The Senior Database Administrator will be a key contributor within the organization, managing and maintaining databases across our enterprise.

What you will do:

• Lead efforts to develop and manage automation for ongoing production database maintenance across the enterprise
• Monitor system performance and identifying problems that arise
• Respond to alerts and user reported errors in timely manner
• Protect database against security threats and unauthorized access.
• Manage backups, indexes and partition and other database maintenance activates
• Report on metrics regarding usage and performance.
• Design databases with the highest scalability and throughput
• Design database management systems for failover and high availability
• Plan and oversee major database migrations and upgrade efforts
• Develop PL/PGSQL functions and procedures for various needs
• Develop scripts for automated database maintenance processes
• Consult with application developers and make recommendations on database query performance.
• Provide mentorship to junior DBAs on the team and across the organization

What you will need to have:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in related field or equivalent experience
• 8-13 years of hands-on database administration experience
• 4+ Years of Postgres administration experience
• Strong knowledge of relational database systems
• Strong technical leadership skills
• Experience in database migration and upgrade tasks
• Deep knowledge and subject matter expert in PostgreSQL
• Expert skill level of SQL and PL/PGSQL
• Scripting language experience (Bash, Python, etc)
• Hands on experience with database maintenance and profiling tools such as PGAdmin, PGBench, Pg-badger, Pg-Repack
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Hands on experience with cloud PostgreSQL offerings such as RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL
• Experience with database connection pooling and load balancers
