As an Embedded Hardware expert, the role is expected to bring and develop deep expertise in the process of designing and manufacturing digital devices and particularly the hardware, software and connectivity of devices through various communication protocols. This is an individual contributor role with responsibility of digital excellence and driving the internal and external partners independently. The person would be part of medical device team and shall be responsible for workstreams on digital, programming, coding and electronics development assigned across various development programs. The work would range from industry -level electronic development to working on microcontrollers and user interface display design and development
Key Accountabilities (1/6)
Design electronic schematics, Gerber PCB
Support in development of electronics schematics through knowledge of basic electronics, PCB design software, PCB layer stack-up and design rules requirements.
Ensure quality using his expertise in 3D Model and detailed design review process.
Identification, Selection and finalization of Bill of Materials of electronic components based on the performance requirement
Capable to lead in selection of electronic components based on performance requirement.
Electronic component selection, alternatives, obsolescence management and technical /documentation support including BOM creation and prerequisites for procurement, lifecycle management.
Electronics and electrical safety assurance and design for safety
Should understand most important electrical safety requirements for product design.
Understand the importance of critical components and able to verify components properly
Ensure that the design meets the electrical, thermal, mechanical and safety requirement by performing relevant quality and design verification checks on the completed PCB design
Key Accountabilities (2/6)
Programming and algorithm development, validation and implementation of IoT on various communication protocols
should have proficiency in programming and algorithms development, validation and implementation
· Should have in-depth knowledge on Java, Python programming · Experience in communication protocols at least include I2C,SPI,USP, Wifi, BLE 4.0,General purpose input/output Development of prototype PCBs, circuits, embedded and connected systems
Ensure schematic design for prototype, BOM selection as per performance requirement
Should be able to design PCB for single and multi-layer PCB design and working expertise
Blueprint creation for design for manufacturing of finalized electronics circuits
Should have capabilities for blueprint creation for design for manufacturing.
Ensure best practice in PCB design release for fabrication and assemble along with SMD soldering
Key Accountabilities (3/6)
Development of electronic capabilities in the department – Simulation of circuits, Testing stations, validation instruments and processes.
Capable to understand and develop the capabilities on simulation of circuits
Building protocols for testing and validation processes Development of EMS and assembly vendors in terms of capability, quality, sampling and costing for product pipeline
· Working closely with EMS and assembly vendors on costing and sampling · Dealing and follow ups on regular basis to achieve deliverable
Major Challenges
Delay in development of accurate, robust and scalable firmware and hardware leading to cost and timeline impact on device scale up
Impact on tech transfer process due to challenges in selection of right components and optimized BOM
Erroneous development of codes or electronics leading to sunk cost, delay in device validation and harm to patients in case of missed safety points

2-3 EMS vendor development, scale up and design partner houses for Gerber design
Education Qualification
Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering from reputed institute.
In case of bachelor’s degree from core electronics domain with master’s in biomedical engineering is required
Relevant Work Experience
Fluent working proficiency of microcontroller code development process in C/C++ and embedded software development and embedded C
Experience in reputed EMS or electronics design companies in coding and programming of IoT protocols, digital and analogue communication, memory devices and file system internals.
In-depth hands-on expertise on PCB design tool for single and multi-layer PCB design and working expertise in Altium (good to have) with in-depth knowledge on electronic component, verification and testing
Experience from leading medical device brands working on connected devices is highly welcome.
