About Agastya International Foundation

Agastya is a transformative educational foundation. Since its formation in 1999, Agastya is actively engaged in propagating hands-on learning among poor rural children and teachers. It streams its vision and mission to rural India through a variety of channels including a creativity lab located on a 172-acre campus near Bangalore, 105 mobile labs spread across 14 states in India and 45 science centers spread across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Its advisors and members include entrepreneurs, scientists, educators, philanthropists, and teachers. To date, it has directly reached (face-to-face) 5 million children and 200,000 teachers through our continued efforts.

Agastya's hands-on program aims to spark curiosity and addresses significant gaps in the education system viz. lack of practical exposure to science concepts and poor teacher-student interaction. The main goal is to provide access to, attract and retain vulnerable and disadvantaged children to quality educational programs.

About the internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Conduct sessions in line with Agastya's pedagogy that is hands-on, allowing child to explore and ask questions
2. Facilitate students learning individually or in groups
3. Make sure students understand the concepts very well rather than just finishing the concept/model
4. Keep all reports and documents updated
5. Maintain cordial relationship with teachers and school heads who accompany during students visit
6. Prepare bi-monthly class plans and submit them well in advance to In-charge
7. Conduct 2 sessions every day (demo/activity-based)
8. Summarize the learning after the end of each session and leave students with curious pointers for them to explore
9. Spend a couple of minutes analyzing if his class covered A1, A2, and A3, and mention the same in the daily record book
10. Develop a scientific vocabulary and teach using scientific terms and proper and accurate definitions
11. Keep individual daily record book updated and get signed weekly by In- charge

Who can apply

Only those candidates can apply who:

1. are available for full time (in-office) internship

2. can start the internship between 5th Sep'22 and 10th Oct'22

3. are available for duration of 6 months

4. are from or open to relocate to Bangalore, Mandya, Ramanagara, Hassan, Tumkur, Chikmagalur Rural, Kanakapura Rural and neighboring cities

5. have relevant skills and interests
