About Lady Andal House of Children



Lady Andal House of Children (LAHOC) is an established special school in Chennai, founded by The Madras Seva Sadan, a renowned institution with a long-standing and respected legacy in education. Centrally located on a scenic campus, LAHOC is dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.

The school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programmer, including the NIOS curriculum, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

We are building a dynamic team of special educators and educators to work with learners with multiple disabilities and to guide participants in the NIOS Program .LAHOC aims to support parents in the schooling journey of their special child by collecting a highly subsidised fee. Who are we looking for:



We are looking for a skilled

Teacher Assistant

who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), providing instructional support tailored to students' unique needs, maintaining thorough documentation and reporting, managing student behaviour effectively, and adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners. A commitment to collaboration, empathy, and continuous professional growth is essential.

Key Responsibilities:



Support the lead teacher in delivering individualized and group instruction based on students' IEP (Individualized Education Plan)goals. Assist students with learning activities ,communication, mobility, and socialization. Provide support with behaviour management and implement behaviour intervention plans. Help students with daily living activities,including toileting, feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene if required. Prepare classroom materials and adapt teaching tools for diverse learning needs. Monitor and document student progress,behaviours, and incidents.Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff. Supervise students during non-instructional times such as recess, lunch, and transportation. Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required

Skills and Qualifications:



Diploma in teaching/Higher Secondary/Matriculation Certificate Certificate Course in Care Giving preferred Prior experience working with children with special needs is highly preferred. Basic knowledge of developmental disabilities, autism,ADHD, learning disabilities, or other special needs. Bilingual medium of instruction,Knowledge of Tamil and English is mandatory
