Mandatory Requirements

Qualification: Bachelor's degree (in education, music, or the arts)

Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience working in a school, preferably with middle and high school students

Ability to proficiently play at least one western classical instrument specific to the position- a violin, viola, cello or double bass player for the strings class

and a woodwind and brass instrument(trumpet, trombone, flute or clarinet) for the band class.

Training/certification in Western classical music Own their own instruments to use during classes Teaching experience, including classroom management skills Proficiency in oral and written English

Position Summary:

Reporting to the MS/HS Faculty and Admin, this position is responsible for assisting music teachers in classroom instruction and classroom management

Position Responsibilities

Collaborate with the teacher during classroom lessons and preparation time. Assist with classroom instruction by supporting students and providing guidance. Help maintain effective classroom management. Organize and manage classroom inventory. Help with the maintenance, organization, and repair of musical instruments and equipment. Maintain and oversee the classroom library. Support performance planning and assist with stage setup for scheduled events and assemblies. Assist in the coordination of concerts, assemblies, and special events, including scheduling and logistical planning. Facilitate music festivals (ASIAC, MESAC, BIBF) by coordinating with other schools, selecting repertoire, and assisting with schedule planning and other logistical tasks. Assist in the preparation of lesson plans and classroom activities. Print and distribute music materials to students. Provide individual and small group instruction, including leading sectionals during class time and festivals. Support the teacher in assessing student performance by organizing assessment materials and providing feedback. Become familiar with classroom routines and serve as a substitute teacher for music classes as needed. Assist as a chaperone during school trips. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
