A strong TGT Social Science candidate with a specialisation in

Geography

must possess a

bachelor's degree with geography as a major subject

, a

B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification

, and a

valid CTET/TET qualification

. Beyond these essential certifications, a good candidate demonstrates strong subject matter expertise, effective teaching skills, and a range of interpersonal and technical abilities. Essential Academic Qualifications

Graduation with Geography:

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree (with at least 50% marks in aggregate) and must have studied Geography as a subject for all three years of the degree course. In most central government jobs (like KVS, NVS), the candidate should have studied two subjects from History, Geography, Economics, and Political Science at graduation level, with at least one being either History or Geography.

B.Ed. Degree:

A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or an equivalent degree from a recognized university is mandatory.

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET):

Passing the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET Paper-II) or a relevant state-level TET is a crucial requirement in India.

Language Proficiency:

Proficiency in teaching in both Hindi and English mediums is often required.
