Role Summary



The Taxation Assistant will be based at the company's head office in Kerala and will support the tax & compliance function for a nationwide network of branches. The role involves preparing and filing various tax returns, maintaining tax records, coordinating with internal teams (finance, payroll, legal) at both head office and branch levels, and assisting with process improvements in the tax area.

Key Responsibilities



Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns relevant in India (Income Tax, TDS/TCS, GST, professional tax) for the company's operations across branches. Maintain accurate tax filing documentation and supporting records (invoices, vouchers, tax computations, schedules) centrally at the head office and ensure branch-specific data is captured. Monitor deadlines for tax compliance (returns, payments, TDS deposit) for both head office and branch operations; coordinate with branch teams to ensure timely submission. Reconcile tax-related accounts (e.g., TDS receivables/payables, GST input/output credit) across the network and assist in tax provision or review processes. Liaise with internal stakeholders at the head office and branches (finance, payroll, legal, audit) to collect information required for tax compliance (salary particulars, vendor tax deduction data, GST invoices etc.). Assist in responding to notices/queries from tax authorities and the company's statutory auditors -- gather branch-level information and prepare drafts for head office review. Stay updated on changes in tax legislation, regulations and tax authority circulars relevant to India (and any state-specific aspects for branches), and help disseminate these changes to branch teams. Support process improvements: standardise tax-compliance workflows across branches, implement checklists, improve documentation and controls, ensure consistency between head office and branches. Assist in internal audits of tax processes both at head office and across branches, ensuring records support compliance and identifying areas for improvement. Prepare reports for management: status of tax filings, outstanding tax issues across the network, impact of upcoming changes in tax law, branch-specific risk exposures.

Required Skills & Competencies



Master's degree (PG) in a relevant field. Must have

70% or more aggregate throughout academic career (10th, 12th, UG, PG)

for freshers. For experienced candidates, the PG / 70% aggregate condition is

not

mandatory. Good knowledge of Indian tax laws (indirect tax e.g., GST; direct tax e.g., income tax, TDS) and familiarity with state tax issues that may affect branch operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets), Word, and comfortable using accounting/tax software. Strong attention to detail, accuracy in documentation and adherence to deadlines across multiple locations. Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in English and preferably Malayalam (given the head office in Kerala). Organised and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently, coordinate with multiple departments and branch teams. Integrity and ability to handle confidential financial and tax-related information. Ability to work with distributed teams (branches across India) and ensure consistency of tax compliance practices.
