We're looking for an experienced Systems & Network Administrator to architect, deploy, and maintain our in-house and colocation data-center infrastructure. You will be responsible for end-to-end management of physical servers (Vultr/AWS integration as needed), DNS, networking, virtualization, storage, security, and high-availability solutions that power our client applications.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Deployment & Management
Provision and configure physical and virtual servers (bare-metal, Hyper-V/VMware/Proxmox, KVM) in-house and at our Ctrl S colocation facility.
Integrate on-premise servers with public-cloud instances (Vultr, AWS) for hybrid-cloud workloads.
Networking & DNS
Design and maintain LAN/WAN topology, VLANs, routing, and firewall policies.
Configure, troubleshoot, and document DNS zones (Windows DNS, Cloudflare, Bind9, etc.), reverse lookups, and SSL/TLS certificates.
Performance, Monitoring & Capacity Planning
Deploy and tune monitoring stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios) to track server health, resource utilization, and application performance.
Analyze growth trends, plan hardware refreshes, and optimize resource allocation for cost efficiency.
Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for configuration management, deployments, and routine maintenance tasks.
Leverage tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform to codify infrastructure.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Architect and test backup solutions (Veeam, Bacula, or native filesystem snapshots) and define RTO/RPO targets.
Execute DR drills and refine procedures.
Documentation & Support
Produce clear runbooks, network diagrams, and configuration documents.
Provide 24x7 on-call support and collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
3-5 years in systems/network administration, with hands-on in-house and colocation environments.
Technical Skills:
Operating Systems:
Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) and Windows Server.
Basic AWS/Vultr instance management and networking.
Monitoring & Logging:
Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK stack.
Automation:
Ansible, Terraform, Bash/Python scripting.
Backup & DR:
Veeam, Bacula, rsync, snapshots.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting aptitude.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Certifications: RHCE, CCNA/CCNP, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with security standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2).
Knowledge of database administration (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
Reporting & Collaboration
Reports to: CTO / Head of Infrastructure
Collaborates closely with: DevOps, Software Engineering, Security, and Project Management teams
