Systems Engineer I

The Systems Engineer I is responsible for all aspects related to the maintenance, repair and support of systems and storage products to ensure continued operation and functionality. This role will act in a technical support and consulting capacity to ensure quality services are provided to both internal and external clients.
Additionally, the Systems Engineer will serve as a mentor and leader for others in the organization and work to continually improve processes and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform root cause analysis for infrastructure related outages
Acquire and maintain knowledge of current support policies and methods of support to provide accurate solutions to customers
Adhere to ticketing processes and documents issues appropriately and in a timely fashion
Focus on proactive tasks as they are the foundation for increased system performance and reduced reactive tasks
Demonstrate knowledge of ITIL concepts
Ensure compliance with Synoptek's document security standards and policies
Remain quality conscious via phone and email with both technical and non-technical customers
Ensure compliance with the company's code of business ethics, standards, and policies
Evaluate the issue to determine the problem and identify the source and possible solutions using critical thinking skills
Draw connections between various aspects of a problem, and propose viable solutions that have been tested
Use and contribute to resources such as the Knowledgebase in the Synoptek portal to aid in issue resolution and increase efficiency

Qualifications:
Education
Associates degree in Technology or related field from an accredited college or university
In lieu of undergraduate degree, the ratio is 1:1 - meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa
Microsoft role-based certification, VCP / EMCSA, SCSP, AWS, Azure or preferred
Experience
Customarily has at least 3 years technical experience
Customarily has at least 2 years systems engineer experience
Customarily has at least 1 year of mentorship experience
Customarily has at least 1 year of customer facing project management and client engagement experience
Experience supporting Active Directory, general server operating systems and some exposure to Exchange or Office 365, preferred
Experience managing industry leading cloud provider platforms: Vcloud, Azure, AWS, Linux, preferred
Experience managing remote access solutions including Microsoft RDS, preferred
Experience providing recommendations for new server hardware to meet specific requirements, preferred
Experience troubleshooting SAN technologies, preferred
Experience working with vendors in an introductory support role, a plus
Experience in supporting Desktops, Mobile Devices and related technologies including encryption and backup, a plus

Knowledge of Patching process and tools (Desktops and Servers)
