DESCRIPTION Job summary The Amazon Product and Customer Insights team is looking for a scale-focused and customer-obsessed System Development Engineer. The primary goal of our team is to drive improvements to end-customer experiences for Amazon's products and services. We build products that enable our customers to easily discover existing or create new data and insights on products, customers, companies, and industry trends. We increase the efficiency of our broader organization by automating internal business processes and support customers both inside out of the CXBT organization. Our products solve complex problems, make difficult processes easy, and are fun to use. The position requires working directly with the Amazon product and customer insights managers to contribute from Ideation to Execution in a fast paced manner. Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects, primarily in Java, Python, AWS, web technologies. Develop tools to automate and aid operations and maintenance. Solve unique problems and work on a small, self-directed team. Propose, drive and implement technical solutions for automation, efficiency and scalability. Partner with Software developers in team for handing-off or taking over active support issues, provide oncall support and technical consultation to Amazon internal customers. Key job responsibilities . Operational excellence through support of incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks, with responsibilities covering multiple products, features and services . Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects, primarily in Java, Python, AWS, web technologies. . Software deployment support in staging and production environments . Develop tools to automate and aid operations and maintenance. Solve unique problems and work on a small, self-directed team. . System and Support status reporting. Propose, drive and implement technical solutions for automation, efficiency and scalability. . Work directly with the Amazon product and customer insights managers to contribute from Ideation to Execution in a fast paced manner. . Work with Software developers in team for handing-off or taking over active support issues, provide oncall support and technical consultation to Amazon internal customers, develop automation scripts in python and internal platform similar to Selenium. . Mentor and help develop the other teammates. A day in the life Stay connected with the Benchmarking Product and Customer Insights Managers, solve unique problems that help setup Amazon, as a business, towards success. Work with developers in the team to solve these problems efficiently and in automated fashion, focus on resolution rather than mitigation. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS . Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field . 3+ years related experience . Experience in the following skill(s): Managing technical projects from design to release supporting large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services programming using at least two of the following: Powershell, Python, Java, C, or C++ and troubleshooting systemic problems in a Linux/Unix as well as Windows based environments. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS . Passion for creating efficient, scalable Backend services . Master's degree in Computer Science with 4+ years of relevant work experience . Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers . Experience with Java, Python . Be highly innovative, flexible and self-directed
