Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Surgery Coder

to join our medical coding team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing operative reports and assigning appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for surgical procedures, ensuring accurate and timely billing in compliance with official coding guidelines and payer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and analyze operative and clinical documentation to assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes. Ensure coding accuracy for reimbursement and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Collaborate with surgeons and clinical staff to clarify documentation when necessary. Meet daily and weekly productivity and accuracy standards. Stay current with coding updates, payer guidelines, and regulatory changes. Use coding software and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, 3M, or similar). Participate in audits and provide feedback as needed. Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) 2+ years of surgical coding experience (general surgery, orthopedics, cardiothoracic, etc.) Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures Experience with EHRs and coding tools

Preferred:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field Knowledge of NCCI edits and payer-specific coding policies
