UNV work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (https://www.undp.org/).
The UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, one of six Regional Offices in different locations around the world, forges opportunities for the mobilization of UN Volunteers in support of the UN system's activities on peace and development, as well as to support volunteerism as a form of civic engagement through increased capabilities and regional partnerships with UN and non-UN entities.
At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to integrate volunteerism into their development agenda and for deployment of National UN Volunteers.
Context:
The Government of India is addressing the multifaceted development challenges faced by tribal communities, especially those in remote regions, through progressive legislation and targeted interventions. These efforts aim to improve access to education, healthcare, livelihoods, and infrastructure while preserving tribal culture and promoting inclusive growth. In line with this approach, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched, Aadi Karmayogi, a flagship initiative, focusing on enhancing last-mile service delivery in tribal areas by building the capacity of frontline workers. It promotes citizen-centric and participatory governance to ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes designed for tribal communities.
In alignment with this national agenda, UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) supports inclusive development by partnering with tribal departments at national and state levels. UNFPA focuses on adolescent health, gender equality, and reproductive rights. In states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, UNFPA collaborates with tribal welfare departments to improve planning and service delivery.
To further collaboration and in support of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs Aadi Karmayogi initiatives which is time-bound campaign, UNFPA proposes to deploy national Community Volunteers (part-time and in-person) in tribal dominated districts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
This online assignment will support in raising awareness about government schemes, facilitate access to services and strengthen last-mile delivery. This initiative empowers tribal youth, builds local capacity, and demonstrates a scalable model for inclusive development, aligned with the principles of diversity, equity, and sustainability.
