As a Support Engineer on the Fire TV 3P Apps QA team, you will be part of a team that owns quality assurance for various streaming applications supported on Fire TV products, building services, tools, and application development frameworks - working on projects that push the boundaries of customer-device interaction.
This job requires you to hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks that will define your success. Some of the key job functions of the support engineer are:
- Support Engineering in Fire TV 3P Apps QA team responsible for providing multi-faceted application engineering services to multiple Fire TV products.
- Dive deep, troubleshoot and identify root cause functional issues related to the various streaming applications across different Fire TV Products
- Developing Tools, applications, code improvements and scripts to resolve operational burden of support engineers and Operations
- Interface with cross functional engineering teams, external app developers, operations and technical teams to ensure quality of 3rd party applications on Fire TV as per service level agreements
- Read and understand complex application code and make code fixes to resolve support issues
- Develop automation tools and automate manual operational tasks and easy maintenance of our services.
- Build monitoring metrics dashboard, and report 3P apps heath and the status metrics.
Key job responsibilities
This job requires you to constantly hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks will define your success. Some of the key job functions of the support engineer are:
- Provide first level engineering support for issues reported on streaming applications on Fire TV
- Provide engineering support of our incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting and debugging, with responsibilities covering multiple product lines.
- Work on maintenance of coding projects, primarily in python, web technologies, and Java based projects.
-Work with various engineering teams to understand their code base and develop effective tools to root cause the issues impacting streaming applications on Fire TV
- Read and understand complex application code and make code fixes to resolve support issues
- Software deployment support in staging and production environments.
- Develop automation tools to aid operations and maintenance.
- System and Support status reporting. - Build monitoring metrics dashboard, and report 3P apps heath and the status metrics.
- Customer notification and workflow co-ordination and follow-up to maintain service level agreements.
- Work with Fire TV engineering team for handing-off or taking over active support issues and to create a team specific knowledge base and skill set.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of technical support experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 2-4 years overall development/technical support experience.
- 2-4 years of experience to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues in Android Applications
- Experience in Perl or shell scripts
- Experience in UNIX/Linux operating system and tools
- Strong communication skills and experience in handling high severity incident management calls.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Development Experience in Python/Java or open source based technologies.
- 2-4 years of experience to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues in Android Applications
- Experience working on networking, hardware performance and audio/video technologies
