What you will do:
The
Supplier Quality Manager - Supplier Work Transfer
is responsible for ensuring that all parts, assemblies, and processes transferred to Indian suppliers meet aerospace quality, certification, and regulatory standards.
This role provides
quality assurance oversight during supplier qualification, process validation, and first article approval
, ensuring that transferred manufacturing operations achieve full compliance with
AS9100
,
NADCAP
, and customer-specific requirements.
The SQE serves as the
primary quality interface
between global quality, engineering, and supplier teams during work transfer programs, enabling a seamless transition with zero quality escapes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Qualification & Readiness
Conduct supplier quality system and process audits to assess readiness for work transfer (AS9100, NADCAP, special processes).
Review supplier capability, certification status, and quality history as part of the supplier selection process.
Support gap closure plans to elevate supplier quality systems and manufacturing process control.
2. Quality Planning for Work Transfer
Develop and deploy Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) specific to transition programs.
Review and approve supplier APQP documentation, including
Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flow, and Inspection Plans.
Ensure suppliers understand and comply with
FAI / FAIR (AS9102)
,
PPAP
, and
process validation
requirements.
Establish inspection and verification checkpoints at key project milestones (pilot run, pre-FAI, production ramp-up).
3. Process Validation & First Article Approval
Lead or witness supplier
First Article Inspection (FAI)
activities and validate FAIR packages for completeness and conformance.
Verify supplier adherence to dimensional, material, and special process requirements through audits and sampling.
Support Manufacturing Engineers and suppliers in resolving FAI-related issues and nonconformities.
Approve or reject FAIRs per aerospace and customer quality standards.
4. Ongoing Supplier Quality Oversight
Monitor supplier process capability and product quality during initial production runs.
Lead structured problem solving and drive
8D / RCCA (Root Cause & Corrective Action)
to eliminate recurrence of quality issues.
Track supplier performance metrics (PPM, escape rate, on-time FAI submissions, audit findings closure).
Support MRB (Material Review Board) disposition and coordinate quality issue communication with global teams.
5. Risk, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure compliance to
AS9100
,
NADCAP
,
ITAR/EAR
, and any customer-specific quality requirements.
Maintain supplier quality documentation in accordance with company procedures and regulatory expectations.
Drive continuous improvement in supplier process control, documentation, and quality performance.
Share lessons learned and contribute to standardization of transfer quality processes.
Qualifications you must have:
Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical, Aerospace, Production, or Industrial Engineering
.
7-12 years
of experience in
Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Supplier Development
roles within the aerospace or precision manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of
AS9100, NADCAP
, and aerospace quality system requirements.
Experience with
APQP, PPAP, FAI/FAIR (AS9102), PFMEA, MSA, and SPC
.
Proficiency in
quality tools
such as 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys, and DOE.
Hands-on exposure to
machining, assembly, special processes (plating, heat treatment, coatings), and inspection methods
.
Familiarity with
GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
and precision measurement tools (CMM, surface measurement, etc.).
Skilled in documentation review, audit management, and process verification.
Qualifications we prefer:
Certification in
AS9100 Lead Auditor

Six Sigma Green/Black Belt

CQE (Certified Quality Engineer)
.
Experience in
supplier transition, localization, or new product introduction (NPI)
projects.
Exposure to aerospace OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
