The Profile Service and Experimentation API Team is focused on developing and maintaining travel profile services and it is expanding as we look to transform our existing technologies and move seamlessly to the Cloud, and we are seeking a Supervisor Software Engineering. This person will bring leadership and focus in the transformation effort and should be able to interact with architect, technical product manager, internal teams and professional service engagements. The successful candidate is an experienced software development leader who understands all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing and DevOps.
Roles / Responsibilities / Duties
Engineering Supervisor is responsible for small team management with the end to end delivery accountability. Work with business partners to translate functional requirements into technical requirements.
Collaborates and works closely with global and co-located architects, developers and product.
Manage developers for development best practices implementation, code reviews, design principles, design patterns implementations.
Bring best practices, enterprise standards, microservices architecture mindset, API implementation methodologies to the product technology stack.
Manage the teams schedule and is accountable for the delivery of the planned roadmap.
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for building teams.
Is highly ethical, has very high moral standards, shows mutual respect, works well across global teams, sharing knowledge, is an excellent team player within and outside the immediate team.
Job Requirements:
8+ of years of hands on experience with any of the below technologies Java, J2EE, Spring, Microservices / Cloud based development
Exposure to building Cloud Native product development preferably with GCP (Google Cloud Platform)
Experience in development of RESTFUL or Service oriented architecture
Good understanding of backend technologies starting from RDBMS to NOSQL DB?EUR(TM)s
Experience in leading small teams and responsible for technical design, code review, NFR & on time delivery of modules handled by a team
Supervise reporting responsibility for independent software contractors, software engineers and outsourcing partners with training and development of team members
Manage engineering deliverables with the end to end engineering accountability and works with Cross functional teams on Requirements, Design, Development & deployment
Support to recruit engineering personnel, technical staffing and project teams formation.
Thorough understanding of SDLC with microservices architecture, CI/CD.
Good experience in defect or issue management both in Dev and Prod environments
Exposure to escalation management and conflict resolution
Understanding of BDD, TDD practices and experience with any Unit Testing and mocking tools
Good knowledge and experience with DevOps including CI/CD, Observability etc.
Proven programming skills with strong computer science fundamentals
Ability to delegate work to subordinate and mentor the junior team members EDUCATION: Please contact your Human Resources Representative. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years related experience; minimum 2 years prior management/supervisory experience preferred. Advanced computer software skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead and direct multiple projects simultaneously; ability to delegate work to subordinate employees; proven leadership ability.
