The Production & Packing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production and packing operations within the tobacco division. This role ensures efficient production planning, manpower utilization, quality compliance (including pudi packing and tobacco quality), safety adherence, and continuous process improvement through Kaizen and 5S systems.
Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Coordination
Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily production and packing activities to meet targets.
Ensure smooth workflow between tobacco production and packing sections.
Monitor production output and minimize downtime and wastage.#
2. Manpower & Shift Planning
Plan manpower requirements and allocate resources effectively across shifts.
Prepare and manage shift schedules to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Ensure optimal utilization of labor while maintaining productivity standards.#
3. Team Management
Supervise, guide, and motivate production and packing teams.
Conduct on-the-job training for operators to improve skills and efficiency.
Maintain discipline, attendance, and performance standards on the shop floor.#
4. Quality Control
Ensure pudi packing quality as per defined specifications and standards.
Monitor tobacco production quality to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
Identify quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.#
5. Process Improvement (Kaizen & 5S)
Implement and sustain Kaizen initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Ensure effective implementation of the 5S system across production and packing areas.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.#
6. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with plant safety rules and standard operating procedures.
Promote manpower safety and safe working practices on the shop floor.
Report and address safety hazards, incidents, or near-miss events.#
7. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain daily production, quality, and manpower reports.
Document shift performance, downtime, wastage, and corrective actions.
Submit timely reports to management as required.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
Experience in tobacco production or packing operations is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and team-handling skills
Knowledge of production processes and quality systems
Familiarity with Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement practices
Good communication and reporting skills
Awareness of safety standards and compliance requirements
