The Payroll Supervisor - Canada is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of Canadian payroll processing across multiple provinces. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery in adherence with Canada's federal and provincial legislation. The supervisor provides subject-matter expertise on Canadian payroll regulations, manages statutory requirements, supports audits, and drives process improvements. A key component of this role is to lead, coach, and develop a team of payroll specialists to ensure high-quality service, operational consistency, and a strong culture of accountability and performance.
What You Will Do
Supervise day-to-day payroll processing activities including data entry, timekeeping, and payroll computations.
Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation, tax regulations, and corporate policies.
Review and validate payroll data for accuracy and completeness before processing.
Troubleshoot payroll issues and coordinate with HR, Finance, and other departments to resolve discrepancies.
Monitor and maintain payroll systems and databases.
Lead, coach, and develop payroll team members, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Prepare payroll-related reports, documentation, and maintain audit trails.
Build and update self-service knowledge articles for employees and managers.
Manage changes related to employee status, compensation, benefits deductions, garnishments, and statutory deductions.
Coordinate payroll calendar activities and ensure all deadlines are met.
Support payroll audits and compliance reviews.
Collaborate with external vendors and government agencies for payroll-related queries and remittances.
Provide continuous process improvement suggestions to enhance payroll efficiency.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Business or Accounting or Human Resources
8+ years of experience in payroll processing, with 3+years of Supervisor/Team Lead/Managerial experience.
Minimum of 3yrs of experience in Canada payroll processing.
This position operates in a professional office environment.
Standard work hours are 4PM to 1AM IST or 6PM to 3AM IST.
Ready to Work from the Office - 5 days (Monday - Friday)
What Will Put You Ahead
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll laws, tax legislation, and statutory requirements.
Experience with payroll systems Day Force, ADP, Ceridian, SAP, Payworks.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong leadership and people management abilities.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
