Job Description

A Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Engineer designs, installs, and maintains the essential building systems for HVAC, electrical power, lighting, and water supply/drainage, ensuring they are efficient, safe, and comply with all codes and standards. Key responsibilities include system design, load calculations, material selection, coordination with architects and contractors, on-site supervision of installation and testing, and ongoing system maintenance and troubleshooting.

Core Responsibilities

System Design & Planning:

Design mechanical (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing systems, creating detailed drawings and performing necessary calculations for efficiency and load requirements.

Code & Standard Compliance:

Ensure all MEP systems meet local and international building codes, safety standards, and regulations.

Project Coordination:

Work collaboratively with architects, structural engineers, and other construction professionals to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into the building's overall design.

Material & Equipment Selection:

Choose appropriate materials, equipment, and technologies for all MEP systems.

Installation Oversight:

Supervise the installation of MEP systems on-site, monitor quality, and ensure adherence to design specifications.

Testing & Commissioning:

Oversee the testing and commissioning of installed systems to verify they function correctly and efficiently.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

Address any issues or problems that arise with the systems after construction and provide technical support for ongoing maintenance.
Key Skills & Qualifications

Technical Proficiency:

Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Software Skills:

Proficiency with design software like AutoCAD and Revit MEP is often preferred.

Project Management:

Excellent leadership and project management skills to oversee timelines, budgets, and teams.

Analytical & Problem-Solving:

Ability to analyze system performance, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.

Communication:

Strong communication skills for collaborating with diverse project stakeholders.

Education:

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering.
