The Casting Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day production activities in the foundry, ensuring quality casting output, manpower supervision, machine utilization, safety compliance, and adherence to production schedules.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations
Supervise daily casting operations including moulding, melting, pouring, fettling, and finishing.
Ensure production targets are achieved as per plan and timelines.
Monitor machine operations, furnace functioning, and raw material usage.
Coordinate with maintenance team to minimize machine breakdowns and downtime.
Manpower & Shift Management
Manage shop-floor workers, helpers, and technicians.
Allocate manpower as per shift requirements and production load.
Maintain discipline, attendance, and productivity of workers.
Train new workers on casting processes and safety practices.
Quality Control
Ensure castings meet quality standards and customer specifications.
Identify defects (blow holes, shrinkage, cracks, misruns, etc.) and coordinate corrective actions.
Maintain production and rejection records.
Coordinate with QA/QC team for inspections and improvements.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety norms, PPE usage, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure compliance with factory safety guidelines and statutory requirements.
Report and investigate shop-floor incidents or near misses.
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain daily production reports, shift logs, and manpower records.
Report production status, rejections, and issues to Plant Manager / Production Head.
Support audits and internal inspections when required.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of casting processes (Sand Casting / CI / SG Iron / Steel Casting - as applicable).
Ability to handle shop-floor manpower effectively.
Basic understanding of quality control tools and defect analysis.
Knowledge of safety practices in foundry environment.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Ability to work in shifts and under production pressure.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Experience in
casting or foundry manufacturing
is mandatory.
Hands-on exposure to shop-floor operations.
Local or nearby Ambala candidates preferred.
Immediate or short notice period candidates will be an advantage.
