The Supervisor cum Quality Inspector - Paint Shop will be responsible for overseeing daily paint shop operations, ensuring that all painting activities meet company quality standards and production schedules. The role combines supervisory responsibilities with hands-on quality inspection to ensure consistent output, process improvement, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision & Operations
Supervise daily paint shop operations, including surface preparation, primer application, painting, and curing.
Allocate tasks to team members and monitor workflow to meet production targets.
Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of paint shop equipment and booths.
Monitor paint usage, material inventory, and coordinate with the store or purchase department for timely replenishment.
2. Quality Inspection
Inspect painted components for surface finish, color matching, film thickness, and overall quality.
Identify and document defects such as runs, orange peel, or uneven coating; ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Maintain inspection records and quality checklists.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring quality issues and recommend process improvements.
3. Process & Safety Compliance
Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safety guidelines.
Train operators and helpers on proper painting techniques, equipment usage, and safety practices.
Coordinate with the quality and production departments to ensure continuous improvement.
Maintain environmental compliance related to paint waste, fumes, and chemical handling.
4. Reporting & Coordination
Prepare daily production and quality reports.
Communicate effectively with maintenance, production, and quality teams to resolve issues promptly.
Participate in internal audits and customer inspections as required.

Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial,(or equivalent).
3-7 years of experience in a paint shop environment, preferably in automotive, heavy equipment, or metal fabrication industries.
Knowledge of painting processes (powder coating, spray painting, cathodic painting, etc.).
Familiar with quality tools (5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
Strong understanding of paint materials, surface preparation, and inspection techniques.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
