Position Overview
The Hostel Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day administration, child protection, and holistic development of all children residing in the Girls' Hostel. The role requires strict adherence to the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) guidelines, and all statutory child protection norms. The Superintendent will supervise staff, maintain records, coordinate with government and non-government agencies, and ensure a safe, nurturing, and child-friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities 1. Overall Administration
Oversee the daily functioning of the Girls' Hostel and ensure operations comply with CWC guidelines and the JJ Act.
Implement hostel policies, procedures, and standards set by SISTWA and statutory bodies.
2. Child Safety & Protection
Ensure that all children are safe, supervised, and protected from abuse, neglect, discrimination, or exploitation.
Maintain a child-friendly environment and uphold core principles of child rights.
3. Staff Supervision
Supervise and guide housemothers, caregivers, cooks, security personnel, and other support staff.
Ensure staff follow child protection protocols and maintain discipline and hygiene standards.
4. Admission & Records Management
Ensure proper admission and discharge procedures.
Maintain updated case files, case histories, registers, and Individual Care Plans (ICPs) for each child.
5. Coordination with CWC & SISTWA
Attend CWC hearings, meetings, and reviews.
Submit required reports promptly and coordinate on all child-related matters.
6. Health & Well-being
Ensure timely medical check-ups, treatments, vaccinations, and emergency care.
Facilitate counseling, psychological support, and referrals to specialists when required.
7. Discipline & Daily Routine
Ensure structured daily schedules including study hours, recreation, hygiene practices, and life-skill development activities.
Promote positive behavior management and conflict-resolution practices.
8. Hostel Maintenance
Oversee building cleanliness, food quality, sanitation, and safety equipment.
Coordinate repairs, maintenance work, and regular inspections to ensure child safety.
9. Confidential Reporting
Report incidents, complaints, or emergencies immediately to SISTWA management and the CWC.
Ensure confidentiality and proper documentation of sensitive matters.
10. Community & Agency Linkages
Coordinate with NGOs, schools, vocational training centers, health institutions, and government departments.
Facilitate education, skill development, and community engagement opportunities for children.
11. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports required by the CWC and SISTWA.
Ensure all statutory registers and documentation are accurate and up to date.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related field (Master's preferred).
Minimum 2 -5 years of experience in child care institutions, hostels, or social sector organizations.
Strong knowledge of CWC procedures, JJ Act provisions, and child protection standards.
Ability to supervise staff and manage hostel operations effectively.
Good communication, documentation, and report-writing skills.
Compassionate, responsible, and child-centric approach.
