A medical secretary and typist may perform a variety of tasks, including:

Preparing discharge summaries Typing ultrasound and ECHO reports Maintaining records and preparing credit letters Preparing IP and OP letters Explaining discharge procedures to patients Following up with doctors for discharge summaries Checking discharge intimation slips to ensure that patients' bills are settled Educating and training new staff on the discharge summary process Ensuring that discharge summaries include clear and concise instructions for patients and caregivers
Some skills and qualities that may be useful for a medical secretary and typist include:

Being good with computers and typing Being able to read and understand medical terminology Being able to protect patient rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical and personal information
