The Full-Time Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children in an international preschool and daycare. The assistant plays a key role in implementing daily activities, maintaining classroom organization, and ensuring each child's emotional and physical well-being.
Key Roles & Responsibilities. Support Learning and Curriculum Implementation
Assist in delivering planned educational activities and lessons based on international early childhood education frameworks (e.g., EYFS, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or IB PYP).
Help create engaging learning experiences that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Support language development, especially in multilingual classrooms, by using appropriate communication strategies.
Encourage participation and curiosity through play-based learning.
2. Child Supervision and Safety
Constantly supervise children to ensure safety and well-being both indoors and outdoors.
Help maintain a clean, organised, and child-safe environment.
Follow all safety and hygiene protocols, including diapering, toilet training, and meal times.
Observe and report any concerns regarding child development, health, or behavior to the Lead Teacher or administration.
3. Classroom Management and Support
Prepare and organise materials and resources needed for daily activities.
Assist in maintaining classroom discipline using positive guidance techniques.
Support routines such as circle time, transitions, nap time, and snack/lunch.
Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to manage small groups and individualised activities.
4. Communication & Collaboration
Work collaboratively with Lead Teachers and other staff to ensure smooth classroom operations.
Build positive relationships with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Attend team meetings, professional development sessions, and parent events when required.
Provide feedback or updates to parents under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
5. Administrative and Daily Tasks
Help document children's progress through notes, photos, and observation checklists.
Maintain cleanliness and order in the classroom, including toys, learning centres, and supplies.
Support arrival and departure routines and ensure proper handover with parents/guardians.
Assist with record-keeping and follow the school's documentation policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Most preferable Diploma or certification in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
Prior experience working with young children in an international or multicultural setting is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with young children.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a collaborative team.
