UGES is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join our team in Vadodara. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on substation design and power distribution systems. As an Electrical Substation Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of electrical substations to support our renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project teams to develop conceptual and detailed designs for electrical substations, including layout, equipment selection, and protection schemes.
Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather data and evaluate technical requirements for substation projects.
Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation in compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Perform load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and other engineering calculations to ensure the reliability and efficiency of substation designs.
Select and specify electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays, based on project requirements and performance criteria.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, and utility companies, to facilitate the procurement and installation of substation components.
Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and documentation prepared by junior engineers or external consultants.
Conduct field inspections and quality audits to verify compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project milestones.
Provide technical support to project managers, construction teams, and commissioning engineers during the execution and commissioning phases of substation projects.
Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in substation design, power systems, and renewable energy integration.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
8+ years of hands-on experience in electrical substation design, preferably in the renewable energy or power utility sector.
Proficiency in engineering software tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD, or SKM Power Tools.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and practices, including IEEE, IEC, and NEC requirements.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Experience with project management principles and practices is advantageous.
