Job Description


Reporting to the Regional Bid Proposal Manger and working closely with the wider regional sales team, the role will contribute to the development and implementation of professionally written technical proposals across APAC-ME market. The main purpose of the role is to evaluate tender documents and recommend technical solutions for the purpose of producing professionally written technical design proposals that clearly articulates smiths detection value proposition. This role requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines. As a key member of the regional bid team, the role will be primarily responsible for contributing to the overall submission of winning bids and proposals, as well as the continuous improvement of the departments capture planning and bid processes (people, processes, tools, information and governance). The roles primary responsibility will be to evaluate tenders, prepare compliance matrix, write high quality technical proposal documents for new tenders. The role will work closely with all members of the regional bid team, sales managers, product managers for aviation and ports & border, Technology department at all center of excellences to improve bid response efficiency by applying the expert knowledge to address complex challenge presented in tender documents. The role will also be involved in introducing and coordinating the bid response process, developing and maintaining a knowledge base of \'standard\' answers and templates, as well as identifying ways to improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of the bid response process. The role is based out of Gurgaon, India to support the sales effort, lead bid team and engage with customers and third parties. Duties & Responsibilities What you\'ll do : Lead storyboard sessions with bid / proposal team members and key stakeholders. Provide and explain technical concepts to the Sales Team, Programme Managers and Service Managers Using deep knowledge of our products, ensure that all programmes can be executed both functionally and technically, within the scope and timeline defined in agreement with the customer. Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions. Influences changes to standards when necessary by working closely with the sales and product teams prior to tender release. Own the development of custom solutions to articulate use-cases and value to prospective customers across all verticals. Detect functional gaps during scoping calls, analyze them and work with the Product Team to find a viable solution Coordinate heavily with the Technology team, Product Team and the Sales Team to develop the best technically and compliant solution. Deliver completed written technical proposal and compliance matrix responses to the proposal writer against agreed RFP deadlines, escalating issues as required to the bid proposal manager Developing the scope of Work / Supply based on Customer requirements. Act as the \'go to\' person within the department for questions and problems within his/her area of expertise. Understand requisite knowledge that underlies effective decision-making and is able to describe where anomalies or flaws may occur in the decision-making for his/her area of expertise. Support the regional bid team during bid evaluation phase by reviewing all customer documentation providing guidance to the business and sales team with regard to the opportunity requirements (written and implied) including qualification, capture planning, strategy, planning, design, authoring, review and production of world class bids and proposals. Validate the requirements and deliverables that describe the product(s) or service(s) to be offered to best position the offering to the customer. Re-write / edit technical proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, technical / product teams, programmes, finance, commercial, legal and supply chain. Support the full tender preparation and submissions for Smiths Detection APAC-ME, services offerings, ensuring full compliance with bid management processes to deliver the optimized bid in due time. Support the bid proposal manager and assigned bid manager (sales manager) to identify the requirements for each bid and ensure that all relevant business functions and departments contributing to a bid are properly informed of the background to the bid/opportunity, the pursuit strategy and solution. Compile, edit, and proofread commercial proposals which contain technical content and designs ensuring that these are presented in a professional and concise manner. Review and revise documents prepared by others and coordinate the preparation of those materials in a completed bid document. Determine the scope and timeline of new bids. Lead and coordinate the preparation of the bid ensuring that other contributors provide information on time to the correct standard answering the client\'s needs. The Individual What you\'ll definitely need : Bachelor (or higher) degree in Technology and or Business Management Technical awareness including an understanding of security systems, internet /network based solutions Handling third party vendors, partners and aligning them with our deals, as and when required Experience in handling multiple bids concurrently Strength in MS Word, MS PPT, AutoCad and Adobe FrameMaker would be an additional edge Must have at least 7+ experience of managing bids/bids process in a technology-based industry The ability to make effective, timely decisions in a complex, regional market by sourcing and analyzing critical information. Experience at working with senior management across business functions Team Player, self-motivated with a positive outlook, ability to prioritize and co-ordinate several bids at once i.e., multi-task, work well under pressure and be well organized Strong analytical skills and ability to understand and write about complex topics. Familiarity and/or expertise in Baggage Handling Systems, Passenger Baggage Scanning Systems, Mobile Scanning Systems preferred Team Player, self-motivated with a positive outlook, ability to prioritize and co-ordinate several bids at once i.e., multi-task, work well under pressure and be well organized Knowledge and understanding of public (and private) sector bid requirements Ideally be from a technical background with established coordination experience within the sales environment Demonstrable understanding of complex integrated technology-based bids processes and coordination of cross-functional teams Customer focused (internal and external) and experienced in managing expectations The ability to effectively lead and manage the performance of people by being a role model to others, monitoring progress on objectives and behaviors and coaching others for success, in line with the Smiths Way Willing and able to identify and support change and continuous improvement in own and wider business environment Deliver periodic, routine reviews of the bid process to include new requirement reviews and forecast timing updates Exhibit true knowledge and understanding of the internal bid environment Improve regional bid coordination response, adapts personal strategy to changing conditions and translates ideas to action To find out more about life at Smiths Detection check out our LinkedIn pageand follow our story Join us for a great career and competitive compensation & benefits whilst keeping the world a safer place.
