Job Title: Student CounselorJob Summary
The Student Counselor provides academic, personal, social, and emotional support to students to help them achieve their educational and personal goals. The role involves counseling, guidance, assessment, and collaboration with faculty, parents, and external professionals to support student well-being and development.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, personal, social, and emotional issues
Assist students with academic planning, course selection, and career guidance
Identify students facing learning difficulties, behavioral challenges, or emotional distress and provide appropriate interventions
Conduct assessments, evaluations, and counseling sessions as required
Maintain confidential student records and prepare counseling reports
Support students in developing coping strategies, decision-making skills, and self-confidence
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student progress
Organize workshops and awareness programs on mental health, stress management, career planning, and life skills
Refer students to external mental health professionals or agencies when necessary
Ensure compliance with ethical standards and institutional policies
Qualifications and Skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality
Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity
Knowledge of student development theories and counseling techniques
Basic record-keeping and report-writing skills
Work Environment
Office-based with scheduled counseling sessions
May require occasional workshops, meetings, or crisis intervention
