Job Description

Key duties include one-on-one and group consultations, administering assessments, developing support programs, and collaborating with faculty and staff to promote student well-being and success. Key Responsibilities

Academic Guidance:

Help students choose courses, set academic goals, and develop plans to achieve them.

Career Planning:

Provide guidance on career options, assist with college applications, and prepare students for vocational programs.

Emotional & Social Support:

Offer counseling for personal issues, listen to students' concerns, and mediate conflicts between students and other stakeholders.

Assessment & Intervention:

Administer and interpret aptitude and personality tests to help students understand their strengths and needs.

Program Development:

Create and implement programs to enhance student academic and personal development.

Resource & Referral:

Provide information about academic and personal support services and refer students to external professionals when necessary.

Collaboration:

Work closely with teachers, faculty, parents, and other educational staff to support student needs.

Record Keeping:

Maintain confidential records of student interactions and progress.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

Essential for building rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.

Empathy:

The ability to understand and share the feelings of others to provide effective support.

Problem-Solving:

Skill in identifying challenges and developing effective solutions for students.

Organizational Skills:

For managing multiple cases, programs, and documentation.

Cultural Sensitivity:

Important for working with diverse student populations.
Common Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is often a prerequisite. A Master's degree in Counseling or a related discipline is frequently required for more advanced roles. Experience in academic advising
