Design and analyze telecom structures including towers, monopoles, rooftop mounts, solar/telecom hybrid frames, foundations, and support infrastructure.
Prepare structural calculations, analysis reports, and certification packages compliant with Australian standards.
Ensure designs follow:
Standards Australia codes
AS 1170.2 for wind loads
AS 4100 for steel design
AS 4678 when applicable
AS 2159 for deep foundations (if required)
Local council, state, and territory regulations where projects are deployed
Conduct detailed modelling and simulations using structural design tools (preferably Australian compliant workflows).
Evaluate wind region classification, terrain category, shielding factors and topographic multipliers as per Australian wind actions.
Review and approve fabrication drawings, RF data sheets, mount schedules, and installation plans.
Collaborate with telecom operators and infrastructure providers such as:
NBN Co
Telstra InfraCo
Perform structural audits, site surveys, and inspections of existing telecom assets.
Provide structural certification, sign-off, and engineering endorsement for installations and upgrades.
Ensure all documentation meets engineering liability and compliance requirements for Australian jurisdictions.
Coordinate with drafters for preparation of tower elevation, weld details, member sizing, connection design and reinforcement schedules.
Identify risks related to corrosion zones, extreme weather exposure, vibration, fatigue and ensure resilience-based design.
Support internal and external compliance reviews for permitting and certification.
Maintain quality assurance, version control and audit trails for all engineering submissions.
