The Structural Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and fitting steel structural component of structures as per approved drawings, specifications, and shipbuilding standards, ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret ship structural drawings, fabrication sketches, and welding symbols.
Fabricate hull blocks, bulkheads, decks, frames, stiffeners, girders, and other structural components.
Mark, cut, bend, align, and assemble steel plates and sections using gas cutting, grinding, and fabrication tools.
Ensure correct fit-up, dimensions, and alignment prior to welding.
Coordinate with welders, supervisors, and QC teams during fabrication activities.
Perform tack welding as required and assist in final welding preparation.
Follow shipbuilding standards, tolerances, and class society requirements.
Ensure proper use of PPE and comply with safety rules and shipyard procedures.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in good condition.
Rectify fabrication defects and carry out rework as instructed.
Meet production schedules and quality requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
ITI / Trade Certificate in Fabrication, Fitter, or equivalent.
2-5 years of experience as a Structural Fabricator in shipbuilding or heavy fabrication industry.
Experience in shipyard or offshore fabrication is preferred.
