The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and detailing structural systems to ensure safety, stability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. The role involves preparing structural designs for buildings and infrastructure projects while coordinating with architects, MEP consultants, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Analysis & Design
Perform structural analysis and design for various types of structures
Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, and design reports
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards
Design Development & Coordination
Coordinate with architects and consultants to integrate structural solutions with architectural intent
Review architectural and MEP drawings for structural feasibility
Provide structural inputs during concept, design development, and execution stages
Drawings & Documentation
Prepare and review structural GA drawings, reinforcement detailing, and fabrication drawings
Ensure accuracy and completeness of design documentation
Support approval processes with clients and authorities
Software & Tools
Use structural analysis and design software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, or similar
Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit for drawing coordination
Maintain design models and calculation records
Site Support & Execution
Provide technical support to site teams during construction
Resolve design-related issues and issue structural clarifications as required
Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with design intent
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure structural safety, constructability, and cost efficiency
Follow internal quality control processes and engineering best practices
Identify potential design risks and propose mitigation measures
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural specialization preferred)
2-6 years of experience in structural design for buildings or infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of design principles
Familiarity with Indian Standards (IS Codes) or relevant international codes
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in structural design software and AutoCAD/Revit
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and coordination abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
