Role Overview
The Stress Engineer is responsible for the structural analysis, strength validation, and certification support of aircraft structures and components. The role ensures compliance with airworthiness regulations and design safety requirements throughout the aircraft lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis of aircraft structures.
Evaluate primary and secondary structures including fuselage, wings, empennage, and aircraft components.
Develop and review stress reports, substantiation documents, and compliance statements.
Conduct hand calculations and FEM analysis using approved methods.
Support design changes, repairs, and modifications with structural justifications.
Liaise with design, manufacturing, and certification teams to resolve structural issues.
Ensure compliance with FAA / EASA / DGCA regulations and OEM standards.
Participate in structural testing, validation, and failure investigations. Technical Skills
Aircraft structural analysis and stress substantiation
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS, Patran, HyperMesh)
Fatigue & damage tolerance methodologies
Knowledge of metallic and composite structures
Familiarity with airworthiness standards (FAR/CS-23, 25, 27, 29)
Ability to perform hand calculations and classical methods Non-Technical Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Effective technical communication
Ability to work in cross-functional teams
Time management in project-driven environments Experience
3 7 years: Stress Engineer / Senior Stress Engineer Tools & Software
MSC NASTRAN / ANSYS / ABAQUS
Patran / HyperMesh
CATIA / NX (basic structural understanding)
MS Excel, Mathcad
