Job Description

Procurement professional who undertakes activities to ensure the efficient and effective procurement of a defined portfolio of goods and services (mid value/risk level) within established business/JM policies and guidelines. Medium level complexity of direct or indirect buying activities; and/or medium risk to the business.
Job purpose
As a Strategic Procurement Business Partner, you lead execution and delivery of mid - long term functional strategy and relevant procurement activities within your business unit / region through local and / or global teams, as well as outsourced BPO procurement organisation. You are accountable for ensuring adherence to global JM policies, procedures, category strategies whilst addressing, and representing in functional forums, key business needs of your stakeholders. A core part of the role is to ensure compliance to the deployed Procurement operating model, help to drive clarity of responsibilities across JM stakeholders and suppliers, lead collaboration and alignment between global, JMGS and site teams. Apart from delivering on stretch key procurement performance metrics in your assigned business unit / geography, you will be also expected to champion process excellence and drive continuous improvement within overall functional operating model.
Principal accountabilities
Business Partnering

  • Act as primary contact to local stakeholders, including local leadership teams, for their demands around end-to-end procurement services and deliverables
  • Proactively understand, shape and influence the local demand leading to spend efficiency and categories effectiveness at local level; channel the demand for support into the appropriate delivery team in JM Procurement or JMGS
  • Own and deliver local saving plans for spend in assigned territory, actively supports development of above market strategies and saving initiatives delivering benefits to local sites and businesses
  • Represent local requirements with procurement category management teams and contribute to global solution for best application and value delivered locally
  • Develop local communication around applicable procurement projects, policies and strategies; support local implementation of savings plans and supplier management practices as per global strategies, including steering spend pro-actively to JM preferred or approved vendors
  • Own and deliver key local strategic initiatives not covered with global strategies and resource, or requiring local specific solutions and management; participate and contribute to global strategies and projects
  • Interface with the process owners in retained and JMGS organization for end-to-end services provided by JMGS procurement at site / local / regional level
  • Act as liaison between site(s), suppliers and procurement category/supplier managers for supplier performance management and reviews
  • Pro-actively form relationships with Procurement counterparts in other JM businesses to create network that can uncover additional improvement opportunities at a regional level.
  • Create additional value for the organization by continuing to shape the offering from JMGS, leveraging the Genpact relationship through appropriate channels to address resource constraints and business needs.
  • Support resolution of escalations from local stakeholders and suppliers
Operations
  • Provide strategic procurement support for end to end procurement services in the assigned Business Unit / geography
  • Resolve issues, quality complaints and other supplier and / or stakeholders related escalations, which were not resolved via Business As Usual processes; involve global teams where needed
  • Drive locally effective, efficient and compliant utilisation of Coupa, and other global tools, processes and platforms, embedded into procurement operating model
  • Own and actively manage relationship with local suppliers; provides strategic inputs to supplier management processes for globally managed relationships
  • Supports Category Management processes by providing insights into supplier plans, performance management and buying channel strategy and management including content management
  • Takes ownership of specific tasks/projects as directed by Regional / Global Procurement Lead, Procurement Director and Group Chief Procurement Officer
Continuous Improvement:
  • Proactively contribute with best practices mapping and collaborate around continuous improvement opportunities with other Procurement team members, across geographies, categories, and businesses
  • Drive and own implementation of continuous improvement procurement initiatives at site level to identified risks and challenges
Special factors
  • Some global and regional travel and extended hours may be required to support working with teams based in different sites and geographies
  • Frequent onsite availability in assigned sites and occasional travel to other site(s) as required to meet the needs of the role
  • Language capability - strong English skills (spoken and written) - to support employees and potential suppliers . Local language skills as appropriate for the role and location
  • Some extended hours/flexibility may be required to support working with teams based in different JM locations globally

Qualifications/ knowledge/ experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering- Essential
8-10 Years' Proven experience in managing procurement processes focused on sourcing, supplier management and stakeholders' engagement preferably in Automotive/ FMCG/ Chemicals industry- Essential
Knowledge of procurement best practices delivering optimal service and performance of procurement function to the local / regional business- Essential
Experience from working in a similar industry with a global complexity and with global operating models in place- Essential
Proven skills in managing projects, influencing budget holders and leading collaboration toward optimal supplier eco-system delivering on savings, innovation and wider business value - Essential
Full proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook- Essential
Knowledge of P2P systems, ERP systems, procurement processes, and workflow technology- Desirable
