The Stores Manager will be responsible for managing and controlling all inventory and material movement across the organization -- from raw materials to bought-out components, consumables, and finished goods. This role ensures that material availability aligns seamlessly with production schedules, while maintaining accuracy, traceability, and compliance.

functions and plays a key role in ensuring smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities1. Inventory Management
Maintain accurate and real-time records of all stock: raw materials, fabricated parts, standard bought-out items, and consumables.
Implement and monitor proper
GRN (Goods Receipt Note)
and
MRN (Material Return Note)
systems.
Ensure FIFO (First In First Out) or FEFO practices wherever applicable.
Conduct regular cycle counts and monthly physical stock audits to reconcile with the system.
Prevent material losses through proper storage, handling, and tracking.
2. Material Planning & Coordination
Work closely with procurement and production teams to ensure
availability of materials as per project timelines
.
Highlight shortages or delays proactively to avoid stoppages in production.
Track
material inward vs BOM requirement
for each project.
Support project managers with accurate material status reporting.
3. Systems & Documentation
Maintain inward/outward registers, bin cards, GRN, MRN, and issue slips accurately.
Implement barcode / label systems for traceability (where applicable).
Ensure timely and accurate updating of ERP or Excel trackers.
Generate daily and weekly inventory reports for management.
4. Storage & Housekeeping
Maintain proper storage layout for easy accessibility and space optimization.
Segregate and label material properly (raw material, WIP, finished goods, consumables).
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and orderliness in the stores area.
Ensure compliance with 5S principles and safety norms.
5. Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
Coordinate packing and dispatch of finished goods as per delivery schedules.
Prepare packing lists, coordinate with transporters/logistics, and ensure proper documentation.
Ensure proper records for outward materials and maintain traceability.
6. Compliance & Safety
Ensure adherence to company SOPs and statutory requirements for material handling and storage.
Maintain MSDS and safe handling guidelines for relevant materials.
Support internal and external audits.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Working knowledge of Excel, Google Sheets, and preferably ERP systems.
Familiarity with GRN, MRN, BOM tracking, and basic material planning.
Good communication and coordination skills.
High level of accuracy and accountability.
Basic knowledge of GST documentation, e-way bills, and dispatch documentation (preferred).
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / Graduate in any discipline (preferably supply chain, logistics, or mechanical).
5-8 years of experience in
store / inventory management
in a
manufacturing / fabrication / capital equipment
company.
Experience handling stainless steel raw material and industrial bought-out components preferred.
